About me and my therapy practice

Calm, steady therapy when you’re overwhelmed inside.

I offer calm, steady therapy for people who feel overwhelmed on the inside while appearing capable on the outside. My approach is thoughtful and collaborative; we look beneath patterns of coping to understand what they’re protecting, rather than trying to control or suppress how you feel. Sessions are not rushed. We take time, follow what matters to you, and work with warmth, curiosity and respect for your pace.

I am a trauma-informed, person-centred psychotherapist. This means I pay attention to safety and connection in the room, not just the content of what you share. Together, we explore how your inner world has been shaped — by relationships, expectations, stress, or past experiences — and how those influences show up in the present. I may offer gentle questions or reflections to help you put words to feelings, and to notice subtle shifts that might otherwise go unspoken.

When it’s useful, I bring in psychoeducation around emotions, nervous system responses and patterns of thinking. Many clients find this helps things make sense and reduces self-blame. I don’t offer quick fixes or advice; change tends to come from understanding and compassion, not force. My work focuses on clarity, meaning and choice, supporting you to relate to yourself differently over time.

Therapy with me is quiet, consistent and grounding. We go carefully, at a pace that feels manageable, allowing room for insight, relief or simply the experience of being heard. Online sessions offer flexibility and privacy, and many people feel more able to speak freely from their own space

Practice description

My practice is founded on creating space for the parts of life that feel too heavy to carry alone. People often come to Dealing With Wellness because they’re tired of trying to think their way out of anxiety, self-criticism or constant pressure. Therapy gives you a place to pause the inner noise, make sense of what you’re feeling, and approach yourself with more gentleness.

In our work together, we might explore how you relate to others, how you speak to yourself, or how coping strategies have been helping and limiting you. This can involve looking at patterns such as perfectionism, emotional eating, people-pleasing or overthinking, not to judge them, but to understand their roots and purpose. Sometimes therapy is about untangling old beliefs; other times, it’s about finding language for emotions that have gone unnamed.

I pay attention to the process of therapy, not just the story. That might mean noticing pauses, emotional shifts, or the themes that surface over time. We don’t need a fixed agenda for sessions; we follow what feels important, with room for both insight and uncertainty. Healing does not require dramatic breakthroughs; often it begins with small moments of awareness and relief.

All sessions are confidential and take place online via secure video or telephone. This allows you to attend therapy from a space that feels comfortable and private. If you are thinking about starting therapy, I offer a brief initial conversation so you can ask questions and see whether working together feels right for you.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute consultation where you can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide whether therapy feels right for you. There is no obligation to book further sessions — it’s simply a chance to talk through what’s bringing you to therapy and what you’re hoping for.

If you choose to begin therapy, our first full session is 50 minutes. I don’t use formal assessments or questionnaires unless you request them. Instead, we have a conversation about what’s going on for you right now and what you would like support with. You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly where to start — many people simply begin with what feels most present or difficult that week.

We may explore practical details such as your preferred time for sessions, whether you would like weekly or fortnightly appointments, and whether you would like to work by video or telephone. I’ll explain confidentiality, how I store information securely, and what you can expect from the therapeutic process. There is space for you to ask anything you’re unsure about.

My aim in the first session is to help you feel comfortable, grounded and understood. We go at your pace and you are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel able to. Some people arrive with a clear sense of what they want to talk about; others just know something feels stuck or overwhelming. Both are absolutely okay.

Sessions take place online via secure video or telephone. Many clients find starting therapy online reduces the pressure of a first meeting — you can be in a familiar environment and take things one step at a time. If it feels helpful, we can take moments to pause, reflect, and check in about how the process feels for you.

The first session is not about going into everything at once. It’s about beginning a conversation, getting a feel for how we might work together, and deciding whether the fit feels right for you.

Availability

Currently, I have availability for online sessions. I offer both daytime and evening appointments throughout the week.

Session times:

Monday – Friday: 9:00am – 8:00pm

Evening sessions are available.

I respond to messages and enquiries between sessions, and I aim to reply within 24–48 hours (Monday to Friday). If you contact me outside these hours, I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

Therapy sessions take place weekly or fortnightly, depending on what feels right for you. We can discuss your preferred time during our initial conversation. I offer secure video or telephone sessions.

I occasionally take planned time away from practice for training and annual leave. Any breaks will always be communicated in advance wherever possible, and we will explore how to support continuity around those dates.

I do not offer crisis or emergency support. If you need immediate help, I can provide details of local and national services.
