About me and my therapy practice
My name is Natelie Henriques, and I am a somatic and integrative counsellor specialising in perinatal mental health, trauma, and nervous system regulation.
I am passionate about supporting mothers, parents, and individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, fertility journeys, and other life transitions, as well as those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or emotional overwhelm.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I work with each client as an individual and do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Therapy is shaped around your needs, your pace, and what feels safe for you.
Alongside talking therapy, I also incorporate body-based (somatic) approaches. This means we may gently explore how stress, emotions, and past experiences are held in the nervous system, helping you develop greater awareness, grounding, and emotional regulation.
I believe therapy is a partnership. Together we create a safe space where you can reflect, make sense of your experiences, and begin to move towards change in a way that feels manageable and supportive.
I currently work with MumsAid, a leading perinatal mental health charity in South East London, alongside my private practice, Steps Therapy.
I also have extensive experience working in addiction recovery services at Kenward Trust, as well as over a decade of experience as a Birth and Postnatal Doula, Antenatal Educator, Hypnobirthing Instructor, and Bodyworker.
I have worked within community organisations across South East London and North Kent.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), fully insured, and DBS checked.
Practice description
In my practice, I offer a safe, supportive space where you can begin to explore what is going on for you at a pace that feels right.
My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing on a range of therapeutic models including person-centred therapy, psychodynamic understanding, CBT-informed tools, and Transactional Analysis, alongside creative and somatic (body-based) approaches.
Rather than focusing on one fixed method, I adapt the work to suit your individual needs. This allows us to explore both your thoughts and experiences, as well as how stress, anxiety, or trauma may be showing up in your body and nervous system.
Together, we may work with:
feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, or panic
intrusive thoughts or emotional distress in motherhood
birth or pregnancy-related trauma
fertility journeys and loss
grief and bereavement
identity shifts and relationship changes
low mood, burnout, or emotional exhaustion
addiction and recovery
difficulties with boundaries, self-esteem, or self-care
The aim is to support you to feel more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more able to navigate life with clarity and self-compassion.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel unsure or nervous before beginning.
Our first session is a space for us to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to therapy.
We will:
discuss what you are currently experiencing
explore what you are hoping for from support
go through a working agreement so expectations feel clear
This session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and whether you feel comfortable with me.
There is no pressure to continue unless it feels like the right fit for you. Therapy works best when you feel safe, supported, and able to be yourself.
If we decide to work together, we will begin to gently build a shared understanding of what feels most helpful for you moving forward.
