About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative therapist with a postgraduate diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling, alongside master’s degrees in Philosophy and Psychology. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a hospital bereavement officer, supporting individuals and families through grief, loss and major life events, including during the pandemic. These experiences gave me a particular understanding of how people respond to grief, uncertainty and major change and life transitions, and continue to shape how I work today.

I see therapy as a space to slow down and become curious about what is happening beneath the surface. Sometimes we know that something isn't working, but aren't quite sure why. A change in our lives can leave us questioning who we are, what we want, or where we are going. And sometimes we simply have a sense that something is missing. Sometimes it's not even about the “why”, we just need to sit with it. And that can be difficult.

My approach is integrative, drawing on different therapeutic ideas and adapting them to you rather than expecting you to fit a particular model. I am interested in the whole person: your experiences, relationships, emotions, beliefs and the different parts of yourself that can sometimes pull you in different directions.

I offer a warm, open and non-judgemental space where you can bring whatever feels important, including things that may be difficult to say elsewhere. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want from therapy. We can start wherever you are and work together to understand what is happening, what you need, and what might be possible from here.

Therapy can be a significant step, particularly when you're unsure where to begin. If something in you is asking for change, greater understanding, or simply some space to make sense of where you are in life, I'd be happy to explore that with you.

Practice description

I work with a wide array of clients and what they bring. If I had to describe where much of my experiences lies, I would say life transitions, the moments when something changes, ends, or no longer feels quite as it did before. I'm sure we've all experienced this. It could be bereavement or the end of a relationship, but it can also be starting a new job, moving somewhere new, becoming a different version of yourself, or simply reaching a point where you realise that the life you're living doesn't quite fit anymore.

Transitions can unsettle our sense of who we are. They can bring us face to face with questions about what we want, what matters to us, and whether the life we're living feels like our own. This is where my interest in authenticity comes in: understanding who you are beneath the expectations, roles and ideas you may have taken on about who you are supposed to be.

For me, authenticity isn't about discovering some fixed, “true” version of yourself. We are always changing, and who we are can look different at different times. It's about developing a relationship with yourself that feels honest, meaningful and your own. For me, that means developing awareness of those parts of ourselves, living more authentically, and learning to accept ourselves.

This also connects with my idea of selffulness: not simply becoming a “better” version of yourself, but developing a life that feels more fully lived and more aligned with who you are. It's about making room for the different parts of yourself, recognising what you need, and considering how to live more fully as yourself. Neither selfish or selfless, it's selfful.

My practice is not about having a particular type of person or problem to work with. You may arrive because something has happened, because something has ended, or simply because you feel that something needs to change. Wherever you are starting from, these questions of change, identity and how we want to live can become part of the work.

My first session

The first session is an initial consultation lasting 50 minutes. It is a chance for us to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you would like from the process, and to understand a little about your past and present.

There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about or having everything figured out. We can start wherever feels most useful to you and take some time to get a sense of what is happening in your life.

It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about therapy, how I work, or anything else you may be wondering about.

Most importantly, the first session gives us both a chance to see whether working together feels like a good fit. If it does, we can agree a time and day to meet for regular sessions and continue from there.
