About me and my therapy practice
My name is Rebecca and I am a qualified counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I believe deeply in the power of the therapeutic relationship to help heal past hurts and release the potential within us all to change for the better and move forwards in a healthy and full life.
I have experience working with many areas including domestic abuse, sexual abuse, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, childhood abuse, miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death, grief, trauma, bereavement and relationship difficulties. I am also experienced in leading support groups to facilitate self-empowerment, including assertiveness skills, healthy boundaries and practical tools to change unhelpful patterns of behaviour.
Before training to become a counsellor, I worked for many years as a journalist, an experience which has aided my ability to sit with others and truly hear them in empathy and kindness.
Personally, counselling has changed my own life immeasurably and I want to share this healing with others. Your journey towards inner peace and self-acceptance begins today.
I offer sessions either face-to-face from offices near Barnstaple, north Devon or online.
Practice description
Counselling provides a safe space each week to be truly heard and validated. All emotional states are accepted and held within the boundaries of the therapy session. You will develop a greater understanding of yourself, relationships and the impact of past experiences on your life today, behaviour patterns and emotional responses.
You will learn the tools to create the life you want and cope with any challenges you may face - helping you become the best version of yourself and able to fulfil your true potential, regardless of your current situation or past difficulties, loss or trauma.
Work can be short term (a few sessions) or long term (a few years) depending on what you want to bring and how deeply you want to work.
I work integratively, which means I tailor the therapy for the client and not the client for the therapy. I believe there are many ways to help understand and explore the way we think and feel, and no one theory holds the answer for we are all unique. At the heart of my practice is the client and what works for them.
I offer face-to-face sessions from offices near Barnstaple, north Devon or online.
