About me and my therapy practice
Hello,
You are holding it together, but maybe something is on your mind you can't resolve, or perhaps your foundations have been shaken by a recent event.
My approach is grounded in genuine interest, compassion, and non-judgmental acceptance. Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over two decades working closely with people from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds—from guiding young people starting their careers to working alongside professionals building new enterprises. My previous career experience brings real-world understanding and interest in human relationships.
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor practicing within the BACP ethical framework. My style is relational; how you and I interact is integral to you gaining insight about yourself. My practice involves listening, alongside a supportive collaborative process with you. You lead your sessions – we talk about whatever you need to focus on - and I may draw on psychodynamic principles to help us understand if your past experiences may have created hidden patterns affecting your relationships and how you see yourself. We work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I support clients questioning their direction, sometimes following a change, a loss, or a long-term self-doubt. I work with individuals facing strain in their relationships—whether with a partner, wider family or in a professional environment. Together we will explore what matters most to you, help you reconnect with your core values and bring clear thoughts back into your life.
If you are experiencing inner conflict or feeling unsure of your path, we work together to help you rediscover inner strength and find a way forward with acceptance and clarity. Seeking support is a sign of great strength.
Practice description
I offer open-ended therapy in weekly 50-minute sessions, in person or online. We work together for as long or as little as feels helpful to you. To give your sessions space to establish however, I suggest an initial commitment of six sessions. After that it is up to you; we will have regular reviews to ensure your sessions are continuing to add value for you and are tailored to what you need.
Whether you prefer a dynamic, goal-oriented focus to navigate an immediate challenge, or need calm space to process past experiences and feelings, the direction is guided by you. As an Integrative Therapist, I work at your pace, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to suit what you need in the moment. Sometimes you may arrive knowing exactly what you wish to explore; other times, meaningful insights may emerge naturally during the session.
I request payment prior to each session; either per week or in a block payment. Session fee is charged if you need to cancel within 48 hours of the session. I always aim to accommodate an unforeseen cancellation by rescheduling in the same week if I have availability, to avoid you paying for a missed session.
My first session
I offer an initial free 20-minute phone-call or on-line meet for you to decide if I am the right Counsellor for you.
After that, we agree a weekly session time at the same time and day each week. Sessions are 50 minutes long. I offer face to face sessions in Surbiton (Surrey) and/or on-line. Prior to your first session I will send you an agreement to read and sign if you are happy to proceed, along with payment information and how to find me, etc. I also send you a questionnaire that asks a little bit more about you and your background. You are under no obligation to fill out this questionnaire, it is just helpful for me to form a better picture of you. Some clients also find it a helpful exercise to help clarify what they need from the sessions.
