About me and my therapy practice

You’re managing everything on the surface, keeping up with work, relationships, and expectations. But something has shifted. The pressure is harder to carry, your mind doesn’t settle in the same way, and you don’t feel as connected to yourself.

Even when you stop, your mind may not. There is little space to reflect, feel, or recognise what you need. Life can look fine on the outside while inside you feel drained, flat, or increasingly distant from yourself.

Over time, this can begin to affect how you relate to others, how much you can tolerate, and how present you feel. Things that used to feel manageable take more effort. You may find yourself withdrawing, becoming more irritable, or simply feeling less like yourself without fully understanding why.

These experiences are often associated with burnout, anxiety, or longer-term emotional strain, even when they don’t look like it from the outside.

I offer online counselling and psychotherapy across the UK for adults who are finding things harder to carry than they used to.

I’m Esther Dietrichsen-Farley, a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, and founder of The Farley. My work is grounded in person-centred therapy, with additional training in trauma-informed and relational approaches. I pay careful attention to how things are experienced and carried, not just what’s happening on the surface.

In our sessions, there’s no expectation to present things clearly or have it figured out. You don’t need to arrive with a plan or a clear starting point. We take time to understand what has been building beneath the surface and how it has shaped how you feel, relate, and move through life.

Working online can offer privacy and consistency. You can access therapy from your own space, without needing to travel or disrupt your day.

It’s a space where you can begin to say things as they are, rather than how they’ve had to be managed elsewhere. From there, change tends to emerge in a way that feels more grounded and sustainable.

About me and my therapy practice

You’re managing everything on the surface, keeping up with work, relationships, and expectations. But something has shifted. The pressure is harder to carry, your mind doesn’t settle in the same way, and you don’t feel quite as connected to yourself as you used to.

Even when you stop, your mind may not. There is little space to reflect, feel, or to recognise what you need anymore. Life can look fine on the outside while inside you feel drained, flat, or increasingly distant from yourself.

Over time, this can begin to affect how you relate to other people, how much you can tolerate, and how present you feel in your own life. Things that used to feel manageable take more effort. You may find yourself withdrawing, becoming more irritable, or simply feeling less like yourself without fully understanding why.

These kinds of experiences are often associated with burnout, anxiety, or longer-term emotional strain, even when they don’t look like it from the outside.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy in Southampton and online across the UK for adults who are finding things harder to carry than they used to.

I’m Esther Dietrichsen-Farley, a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, and founder of The Farley. My work is grounded in person-centred therapy, with additional training in trauma-informed and relational approaches. It’s a space where you can begin to say things as they actually are, rather than how they’ve had to be managed or held together elsewhere. From there, change tends to emerge in a way that feels more grounded and sustainable.
