Availability

I have availability for new clients.  New Thursday slots have opened up at 10:30 and 12 noon.  I also sometimes have space on Wednesdays at 12:30 and 15:30, and on Monday and Tuesday in the early afternoon, so it's always worth asking.

Sessions start from 10:30.  I don't see clients on Fridays, although online sessions can occasionally be arranged.

I see people face-to-face at my private practice office in central Glasgow, and online.  If you'd like to talk it through, get in touch for a free initial consultation, and we can find a time that works for you.

About me and my therapy practice

My approach starts with you.  Together, we'll look at your past experiences and how you've learned to respond to them, and how those patterns shape the challenges you're facing now.

I've worked in the arts and the gig economy myself, so I understand the pressures that come with irregular work, as well as those of everyday life.  I support adults with low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and a range of other concerns, and I'm happy to talk through whether I'm the right fit.

I want you to leave sessions with more resilience and more confidence in handling whatever comes next, so that you become your own agent of change.

I believe therapy works best when it's collaborative and respectful.   Your feedback shapes how we work, and I'm always open to adjusting our approach as things develop.  We'll take time to celebrate progress, however small, and when things feel hard, we'll meet it with compassion, not judgement.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Practice description

My practice draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, with a tendency towards what is described as "Third Wave CBT."  That means we'll explore ways to build self-awareness and self-compassion so you can better understand your thoughts, feelings, and, importantly, your responses to different situations.  Once we understand the reasons behind those responses, we can work on adapting them.

We start with your story: what's been happening, and what's been keeping things going.  From there, we'll look at the patterns and beliefs that shape how you respond, and how they affect your wellbeing.

Where it helps, we'll use evidence-based tools such as cognitive restructuring, where we look at the evidence for your beliefs and explore other interpretations that feel more realistic.  We might also use behavioural experiments and gradual exposure to test out new ways of responding in real-life situations and ease avoidance patterns at a pace that feels manageable.

Throughout, you'll build practical skills to manage distressing emotions and cope with difficult situations.  We'll keep track of progress together, celebrate what's working, and meet setbacks with compassion and understanding.

CBT is one of the tools I use, not a fixed formula.  I'll follow your lead and we adjust as we go.

My first session

In our first session, we'll start by completing a short assessment tool.  This will help me understand what brought you to therapy.  We'll then talk through how these difficulties are affecting your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, at whatever pace feels right.

Together, we'll agree a contract that sets out what we can each expect from the work. We'll talk about how future sessions will run, and you're welcome to ask me anything about the process, no matter how small.

Before we finish, we'll set some goals together that are specific, realistic and time-bound, so we both know what we're working towards.  You're also welcome to decide at the end whether I feel like the right fit.  There's no pressure either way.
