About me and my therapy practice
I'm Laurent Gorce, a North Wales counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
I offer confidential, non-judgemental counselling for adults and couples, both face-to-face and online. I have particular interests in men's mental health, couples and relationships, and running and mental wellbeing.
You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, anger, relationship difficulties, loneliness, loss, work pressures or a significant life change. Perhaps you're managing on the outside while finding things increasingly difficult on the inside. You may have become used to dealing with everything yourself, or you may not know where to begin.
You don't need to know exactly what's wrong before contacting me, and you don't need to be comfortable talking about your feelings. We can start wherever you are.
I work integratively, adapting our work to your individual needs rather than expecting you to fit into one particular approach. My role isn't to tell you how to live your life, but to listen, help you make sense of what is happening and support you in finding a way forward.
For men, I have a particular interest in the barriers that can make it difficult to seek support. For couples, I provide a space to explore communication difficulties, conflict, emotional distance, loss of trust and other relationship challenges. I also have a particular interest in the psychological relationship between running, identity, injury, performance and wellbeing.
Sessions are from £75, with concessionary rates available. I believe financial hardship shouldn't become another barrier to getting help, so please get in touch if affordability is a concern.
You don't have to decide whether counselling is right for you before contacting me. You can ask a question or tell me a little about what's happening.
Sometimes the hardest part is making the first contact. You can start with a conversation.
Practice description
My practice offers confidential counselling for adults and couples in North Wales, with face-to-face and online sessions available.
I work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, anger, relationship difficulties, loneliness, loss, work pressures, life changes and feeling overwhelmed or stuck.
I have particular interests in men's mental health, couples and relationships, and running and mental wellbeing.
For men, counselling can provide a space to explore difficulties that may be hard to talk about, including stress, anger, low mood, anxiety, pressure, relationships, identity and major life changes. You don't need to consider yourself a 'counselling person' or know exactly what to say.
For couples, I offer a structured and supportive space where both partners can be heard. We can explore communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional distance, loss of trust, changes in the relationship and uncertainty about the future.
I also have a particular interest in running and mental health, including the impact of injury, performance pressure, changes in motivation and the role that running can play in identity and wellbeing.
I work integratively and collaboratively, adapting counselling to the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Sessions may be short-term or longer-term depending on your needs and circumstances.
I aim to provide a professional, respectful and non-judgemental environment where you can talk openly, understand what is happening and explore a way forward.
Sessions are from £75, with concessionary rates available. I believe financial hardship should not become an additional barrier to accessing support, so please get in touch if affordability is a concern.
You are welcome to contact me to ask questions before deciding whether counselling is right for you.
My first session
I would describe myself as genuine and positive. I believe in people and am passionate about the benefits that independent support can bring. With support, I was able to survive, adapt, grow and become happy. Periodically being supervised enables me to explore issues and transform ideas and aspirations into actions and sustainable change. The first session is an opportunity for us to begin talking about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with.
You don't need to prepare anything beforehand, and you don't need to know exactly what to say. You can start wherever feels comfortable, even if that is saying, "I don't really know where to begin."
I'll explain how I work, answer any questions you have and give you space to talk about what is happening for you. We can explore what you would like to be different and begin thinking together about how counselling might help.
The first session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of what it is like to work with me. Feeling comfortable, listened to and respected is important, so you should feel free to ask questions or tell me if something doesn't feel right.
There is no expectation that you tell me everything in the first session. Counselling is a process, and we can take things at a pace that feels appropriate for you.
For couples, the first session provides an opportunity for both partners to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would each like to achieve. The focus is on creating a safe and balanced space where both people can be heard.
Whether you are seeking individual or couples counselling, there is no pressure to commit to ongoing sessions simply because you have attended an initial appointment.
My aim is for you to leave your first session with a clearer understanding of how I work and whether counselling with me feels like the right fit for you.
Sometimes the hardest is making the first contact. You don't have to have the answers before you begin.
