About me and my therapy practice
Originally from the North East of England, I settled in the North West in 2003 where I have worked in a range of supportive roles. My journey into counselling began in prison education and developed further through careers guidance and coaching, before I went on to qualify as an integrative counsellor. Along the way, I have been fortunate to support people from many different walks of life.
I have previously worked as a volunteer counsellor with Age UK Wirral and the NSPCC. These roles have deepened my understanding of how people cope with emotional pain, trauma, and uncertainty — and just how resilient we can be when we have the right support in place.
I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever may be troubling you at your own pace.
As an impartial person, I will listen to you carefully. I will not tell you what to do. I will support you to make sense of your experiences and rediscover your own inner strengths. You choose the focus of each session, and this can evolve as your needs change.
Practice description
Whether you're feeling lost, overwhelmed, or just not like yourself lately, counselling can be a place where you feel heard — maybe for the first time in a long time.
You may be:
Struggling with low mood, energy, or self-worth.
Living with anxiety, depression, or panic.
Finding it hard to cope with stress — at work, home, or in relationships.
Feeling distant from others or even from yourself.
Carrying a sense of being unseen, unimportant, or not accepted for who you are.
If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone. Reaching out for help can be daunting. It takes courage to let someone in. I offer a relaxed setting where you can talk at your own pace, in your own way. There’s no pressure to have the right words — just a gentle invitation to begin where you are.
Sometimes, we can be surrounded by people and still feel deeply alone. When you're holding in painful thoughts or emotions, life can feel heavy and disconnected. Together, we can begin to explore what’s happening beneath the surface — helping you make sense of your feelings and patterns, and move toward healing and change.
I work primarily from a person-centred approach meaning you are at the heart of each session, what you bring to talk about is what we will look at together. I’ll help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be integrated into sessions if this feels right for you — offering strategies that support you in moving forward at a pace that feels right for you
I support adults (18+) with a wide range of issues, including:
Anxiety and social anxiety
Stress and burnout
Depression and low mood
Life transitions
Confidence and self-esteem
Body image and personal development
Relationship and family issues
Grief, loss and bereavement
Change
Peri/menopause experiences
Work-related challenges
Loss of identity or purpose.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute client enquiry phone call.
After the client enquiry phone call we will arrange the first, initial session. The purpose of this first session is to establish why counselling is needed now, how your issues are impacting you day to day and what you would like to achieve from sessions. This first session also enables us both to realise if we are the right fit. It’s very important that you feel you can work with me.
If we decide that we are able and want to work together, we will agree on a weekly day/time for your session. We can agree if we are working to a specific number of sessions or if sessions are to be open ended. Discussing these optional timeframes will help to focus sessions. If the work is time limited, then we agree on the number of sessions and work towards that. With open ended work we usually agree on an initial number of therapy sessions. Then we can review how the therapy is going and decide how you would like to progress, whether that be to engage in further sessions or work towards an agreed ending.
