About me and my therapy practice
I offer an open and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what's on your mind and I aim to create a space where you can bring your full self (including the parts of yourself you may feel shame or embarrassment around).
I’m trained and registered as a CBT therapist and integrate various therapeutic approaches such as person-centered therapy and parts-work (IFS) to offer therapy that is tailored to you and includes both practical tools and deeper emotional work.
I'm mindful of the connection between mind and body and I may bring our focus to both when we are working through your presenting concerns. This can help you to build a better connection to your own body and increase your tolerance to the sensations that arise from different emotions.
My approach utilises gentle challenging, which can support you to reframe unhelpful thinking patterns or and gain self-awareness of patterns or parts of yourself that you may not be consciously aware of.
I will work with you to increase your understanding of (and tolerance of) your emotions. (E.g. learning how to change our relationship to our anxious part and exploring what painful emotions may be underneath anger, such as hurt).
I hope therapy gives you the language to understand and talk about things you’ve always experienced but not been quite sure about what’s happening (e.g. angry outbursts when you’re out with your window of tolerance or going into hypo-arousal and shutting down when you’re overwhelmed).
