About me and my therapy practice

Hello. My approach (psychodynamic therapy) helps you find the root causes of the disconnect in your life. We can't change our past but we can change the influence it has on us. You are welcome to bring whatever is troubling you. This can include anxiety, low mood, work-related stress, parenting or relationship issues, family conflict, bereavement and grief, significant life changes including menopause, adverse childhood experiences, low self-esteem, shame and anger. Therapy is a collaborative approach. There is no advice or agenda. My aim is to help you to find relief from these feelings.

My client are often surprised that psychodynamic therapy- a purely talking therapy - can be so effective in helping you to recognise patterns of unhealthy behaviours and enable sustained long-term change.

I also work extensively with young people navigating sixth form and university (16 years+) struggling with low mood, avoidance, lack of motivation, emotional dysregulation and self-injurious behaviours.

You will be understandably nervous for your first session and we can use this time to see if we are a good 'fit'. The first session is at a reduced rate of £40. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We can also explore timeframes - whether you would benefit from open-ended long-term therapy or a shorter time period.

Practice description

Who do I work with?

I work with both young people and adults.

My adult client work covers a broad spectrum of presenting problems and you are welcome to bring whatever is troubling you. This can include anxiety, depression, parenting or relationship issues, family conflict, bereavement and grief, significant life changes including menopause, adverse childhood experiences, relationship to food,  low self-esteem, shame, anger and managing stress.

I have extensive experience supporting mental health needs within the 16-21 age group (from Year 12). I understand the challenges that young people face during sixth form and university. These feelings can include: feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, social anxiety, low mood, school/lecture avoidance, self-harm, body dysmorphia, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, emotional dysregulation, exam stress, friendship/ relationship issues and family conflict.

My counselling room is part of a health suite of different practitioners in the centre of Tunbridge Wells and a 5 minute walk from the station with easy parking locally.  Please note the room is on the 1st floor.

About Me

I worked in the City for ten years as the Director of an international recruitment agency before opting for a different path and work within an education setting supporting young people's mental health. From here, it felt like a natural progression to complete extensive core training in psychodynamic therapy and opening my own practice. My aim is to help you to find relief and to enable long term sustained change.

I am qualified with a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from a BACP accredited training course. I also hold a BA (hons) and continue to further my knowledge with comprehensive CPD.

My first session

You will be understandably nervous for your first session and we can take our time to see if we are a good 'fit' for each other and for me to be able to hear what has brought you to counselling.

This session can give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about counselling. We can explore timeframes - whether you would benefit from open-ended long term therapy or a shorter time period as well as agree our weekly time and day for our sessions together.
