About me and my therapy practice
*October 2024 availability: mornings, afternoons, and evenings*
Working almost entirely with neurodivergent clients. I work to facilitate deeper self-understanding and improved self-acceptance, whilst also supporting you to establish practical ways to move through the challenges you are facing.
I offer a safe space, without judgment, to help you explore your thoughts and feelings. I am a down to earth, qualified counsellor and I provide a calm, and warm approach to therapy.
Sessions take place remotely so you can connect with me from the comfort of your own home, or where ever you feel most comfortable.
I am fully qualified, with training in the prominent therapeutic approaches; Person-centred, Cognitive behavioural, Psychodynamic and Attachment theory. I draw on a variety of techniques and tools, tailoring my approach to your own individual needs.
I will take a holistic view, exploring your current emotions and thought processes, as well as considering developmental aspects, family, and cultural influences that may be important to your world.
I work in a relational way, focusing on connecting with you and building our therapeutic relationship, working towards solutions as and when this feels manageable for you.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and practice in-line with their ethical standards.
Practice description
Starting therapy can feel like adding something else to your ‘to-do list’ but my goal is to make the process as simple as possible, and ensure you feel supported and understood right from the start.
All sessions are 50 minutes and will take place on an online video platform, weekly or fortnightly as agreed.
I will always reply to your emails (please check your spam or junk folder if you haven’t received a reply within two working days).
My first session
Initial phone call
Choosing a counsellor that you feel comfortable with and connected to, or who you feel you can work towards this with, is so important. For this reason, I am happy to offer you a free 20-minute phone call to explore together what brings you to counselling, how my approach might suit you and whether you wish to proceed with therapy with me.
First session
In our first session, we will explore your world, your expectations from therapy and any particular areas of your life you would like to focus on.
Some clients like to set goals, others don't, either is fine. We will work at your pace and establish what is comfortable for you.
Moving forward
I usually suggest an initial commitment of 6 sessions, after which we can review our work and decide how to move forward. You may wish to work with me on an open-ended contract, meaning you can stay in therapy for as long as you wish.
What I can help with
ADD / ADHD, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Depression, Health related issues, Loss, Neurodiversity, Personal development, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexuality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
