About me and my therapy practice
My name is Melina,
I am a qualified Humanistic and Integrative Person-Centred Counsellor based in Frome and Bath.
Whether you are navigating a specific difficulty or seeking clarity during a challenging period, my practice provides a calm, confidential, and supportive space where you can explore your experiences with openness and compassion.
Central to my work is the person-centred philosophy of Carl Rogers. I am committed to cultivating a warm, attuned connection where you feel genuinely heard and understood without judgement. I believe everyone has an innate drive and capacity to move forward, and that when we feel stuck or unhappy, it is often because a fundamental need isn't being met.
To help us understand these obstacles, I draw on Maslow’s framework for the hierarchy of needs. I use this framework as a lens to identify any 'missing pieces'—such as a lack of security, connection, or self-esteem—that may be impacting your mental health. By addressing these essential gaps together, we create a stable foundation that allows you to shift your focus away from survival and toward growth, creativity, and a deeper sense of purpose.
Practice description
I work with adults, children under 10, and couples, supporting individuals through a wide range of experiences including anxiety, bereavement, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and self-esteem challenges. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy—face-to-face, online, or by telephone—and I am happy to work in both English and Spanish.
If you feel ready to begin a thoughtful journey of self-exploration, I would be glad to meet with you to explore what we can achieve together.
My first session
I offer a free thirty-minute initial session, providing an opportunity for us to meet and discuss your hopes and expectations. It is vital that you feel comfortable, as establishing this rapport is a crucial aspect of our counselling relationship. This initial conversation helps shape the focus and structure of our work together, allowing us to begin with clarity and shared intent.
