About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Anna.

I’m a warm, perceptive and down-to-earth psychotherapist with an international background. I approach psychotherapy as a space to explore your experience, understand what has shaped you, and find a way of living that feels more fully your own.

Having grown up in Canada, with European roots, I lived and worked in Japan for 7 years before settling in London 15 years ago. Throughout, I’ve been interested in the ways we inhabit our histories, bodies, relationships and identities, and how we may come to feel more or less at home in ourselves.

I am not a silent therapist — we will dialogue. We'll make space for what matters to you, where you find meaning, and what feels confusing, painful, or keeps you up at night. I'll be alongside offering gentle prompts and challenges to open perspectives and invite reflection and the quiet shifts that can transform everyday life.

I have worked in both private and charity sectors with clients who bring a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, change and uncertainty, relationship difficulties, and the effects of trauma and difficult early experiences. Many of my clients also explore existential concerns around their place in the world, their roles and relationships, and aspects of identity such as gender, race, age, ethnicity or sexuality.

I’m interested in the deeper emotional and relational patterns that can leave us feeling stuck, disconnected from ourselves, or caught between competing demands and expectations. Sometimes these difficulties come to the fore during periods of transition; at other times, they are part of longer-standing struggles. Exploring how these patterns have developed and continue to affect us can open up new ways of seeing and possibilities for change.

My background also includes supporting international executives through significant career changes and cultural transitions. I understand how the demands of corporate life can place pressure on personal and relational well-being.

Practice description

Beyond labels and diagnoses, I am interested in who you are, what has happened to you, how you are currently coping, and what you need to move forward with more ease. My aim is for you to be seen and understood within a trusted therapeutic relationship.

Together, we can explore what is troubling you, as well as the deeper questions and emotional and relational patterns that may lie beneath it. I’m an engaged, dialogical therapist: I bring curiosity, reflection and gentle challenge, with respect for the complexity of each person’s experience and the choices they make. We can pay attention to what you think and feel, emotionally and bodily, to what is difficult to put into words, and to what emerges in the therapeutic relationship itself.

Research consistently highlights the importance of the relationship in effective therapy. I work relationally, which means that I’m interested in what unfolds between us: how you experience me, what feels difficult to express, and what happens when you feel understood or misunderstood. Exploring this together can help us recognise patterns in relationships outside therapy, and open up new ways of understanding yourself and relating to others.

I don't see this work as finding answers on your behalf, but as creating the conditions for a deeper understanding of yourself and your experience. It can be a place for you to slow down and stay with something that is initially confusing until it begins to reveal itself. From there, new perspectives and possibilities can emerge — helping you find a way of being that feels more intentional and more fully your own.

I have a Master's degree and PGCEP in existential psychotherapy from Regent's University London, and a BA from University of Toronto, both with distinction. My post-graduate training was a rigorous five-year program, providing a thorough foundation in theory and clinical practice.

I am fully accredited by UKCP, registered with BACP, and member of the Society of Existential Analysis (SEA).
