About me and my therapy practice

About me

Hi, I am a psychotherapist offering online therapy to clients in the UK and internationally. Alongside my private practice, I work with Relationships Scotland, one of the country’s largest providers of relationship counselling and family mediation. I am also professionally based within the wellbeing environment of a leading Scottish university with international campuses, which keeps my work closely connected to education, research, and student wellbeing.

My work is shaped by my clinical training and by working with the deeper emotional and relational patterns that shape people’s lives. I regularly attend CPD training and engage in ongoing clinical supervision, not only to meet professional standards, but because I believe my clients deserve care that is thoughtful, current, reflective, and of a high standard. I also keep my caseload intentionally limited so that I can offer each client the time, attention, and emotional presence that meaningful therapeutic work requires.

My clients come from many different parts of the world, and I feel privileged to work with such a diverse range of people and life stories. I work with both individuals and couples, and I’m familiar with the different needs each brings. Having lived and studied in different cultural and intellectual settings myself, I bring a culturally sensitive and reflective approach to my work, supporting clients with care and respect for the meaning systems that shape their lives.

I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I work in accordance with its Ethical Framework.

Practice description

Individual Therapy

The themes below reflect the kinds of work I am most often engaged in, drawn from my clinical experience and expressed here in a general and anonymised way. I work with adults who are struggling with anxiety, low mood, emotional overwhelm, and burnout; with loss, grief, and major life transitions; with relationship difficulties including infidelity, trust ruptures, and repeated relational patterns; with shame, secrecy, and behaviours that feel compulsive, confusing, or out of control; with trauma and emotional wounds rooted in earlier relationships or family experiences; with identity questions, self-worth, and inner conflict; with sexuality, intimacy, and desire when these feel distressing, confusing, or at odds with personal values; and with difficult family dynamics, including boundary issues, enmeshment, or emotionally harmful relationships.

Couples Therapy

The themes below reflect the kinds of relational work I am most often engaged in with couples, expressed here in a general and anonymised way. I work with couples who are struggling with ongoing conflict, repeated arguments, or difficulty communicating and feeling heard; with emotional disconnection, loss of intimacy, or feeling distant from one another; with trust ruptures such as infidelity, affairs, or breaches of trust online or offline; with the impact of pornography or compulsive sexual behaviour on the relationship; with feeling unsupported or unprotected within wider family or in-law relationships; with tensions arising from neurodiversity, including differences in attention, emotional processing, or communication styles; and with repeated relational patterns where the same difficulties arise again and again. Many couples come to therapy at a point of crisis, while others come earlier when something feels off, when communication has become strained, or when closeness has faded.

My first session

How I Work / What to Expect

We usually begin with a brief, no-obligation conversation so you can share what’s bringing you to therapy and ask any questions you may have. In our early sessions, we take time to understand what you’re experiencing, what feels difficult or stuck, and what you hope might change, gently and at your pace.

I work with both individuals and couples who are often navigating emotional or relational complexity, whether that takes the form of inner conflict, unresolved pain from earlier experiences, trust ruptures, loss of intimacy, or repeated patterns that no longer feel workable. Many people come at a point of transition or rupture, but others come simply because something doesn’t feel quite right.

My approach is not about quick fixes or taking sides, but about helping you understand the emotional and relational patterns beneath the surface with care, honesty, and depth. This work is informed by psychodynamic and systemic ways of thinking, and takes place within a safe, collaborative, and respectful therapeutic space, where difficult feelings and conversations can be held more thoughtfully and where meaningful change can gradually take place.

What I can help with

Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, Adoption, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Child related issues, Coercive control, Cultural issues, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Narcissism, Neurodiversity, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sensory impairment, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Vegan allied, Women's issues, Work related issues
