About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP-registered counsellor offering a warm, reflective and collaborative therapeutic space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace. My approach is client-led and grounded in empathy, respect and curiosity, with the aim of helping you better understand yourself, develop emotional resilience and move towards meaningful change.

As a Muslim counsellor, I work in a way that is culturally and faith-sensitive, recognising the impact that identity, spirituality, family, community and social context can have on wellbeing. For clients who wish, Islamic values, beliefs or spiritual reflections can be gently integrated into the therapeutic work; however, this is always guided by your preferences, and I also work with clients of all backgrounds and belief systems.

I draw primarily on person-centred / integrative / CBT-informed & systemic principles, adapting my approach to suit your individual needs. I work ethically and professionally in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, offering a confidential, non-judgemental space where difficult emotions and experiences can be explored safely.

Practice description

I offer online counselling sessions via Zoom, providing a secure and accessible way to engage in therapy from your own space. Online sessions follow the same ethical and professional standards as face-to-face work and are conducted in line with the BACP Ethical Framework.

Before starting therapy, clients are given clear guidance on how online sessions work, including confidentiality, boundaries and technical considerations. I encourage clients to choose a private, quiet space where they feel safe and able to speak freely. Sessions are scheduled at agreed times, and I aim to create a calm, focused and supportive therapeutic environment online.

Using Zoom allows for flexibility and continuity of therapy, particularly for clients who may have caring responsibilities, mobility limitations, health concerns, or who feel more comfortable engaging in therapy remotely. I remain attentive to both verbal and non-verbal communication and regularly check in with clients about their experience of online work.

I am mindful of the limitations of online therapy and will discuss suitability on an individual basis, ensuring that this way of working is appropriate for each client’s needs.

My first session

The first counselling session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to explore what has brought you to therapy. It is a gentle, supportive space where you can begin to share your concerns at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

During this session, I will ask some questions about your current difficulties, your background, and what you hope to gain from counselling. We will also discuss how I work, confidentiality, boundaries, and practical details such as session structure and online working. There is no pressure to talk about anything you are not ready to share.

If faith, spirituality or cultural context are important to you, you are welcome to bring this into the space, and we can explore how these aspects may connect with your emotional wellbeing. This will always be guided by your needs and preferences.

The first session is also a chance for you to see whether I am the right counsellor for you. You are encouraged to ask any questions you may have. By the end of the session, we can reflect together on next steps and whether you would like to continue working together.
