About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Elaine, and I support adults and adolescents (11+) explore their thoughts, and emotions to discover new perspectives and options. Because having someone to guide you in a safe, friendly space (that’s me!) really can make all the difference. I have a special interest in supporting men, who often face unique barriers to seeking help. Providing empathetic, dedicated support to work through those challenges is at the heart of what I do.
Who do I Work With?
Over the years, I’ve supported clients from age 8 to 80 in a variety of counselling organisations. I have over 30 years of experience working specifically with children and young people, and I’ve also trained and worked with JustB as a bereavement support worker.
Practice description
Life experience also plays a big part in the work I do. As someone who’s raised a family, moved around the globe, worked within the education system for decades, cared for loved ones, and experienced personal grief—I understand how life’s transitions can affect us in many different ways.
I’ve seen how grief, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm show up differently for each person. That’s why I take the time to see things from my client's perspective—not my own—and offer support that’s thoughtful, respectful, and without judgment, no matter your background or situation.
How I Can Help
Clients come to me with a wide range of issues, including:
Relationship or family communication struggles
Exam stress or work-related anxiety
Feeling unsafe
Eating disorders
Grief and loss of a loved one
Together, we explore your current coping strategies, help you better understand your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions, and gently work toward positive change. This space is yours—to reflect, explore, and begin to feel more like you again.

What Therapy With Me Looks Like
If you’re wondering what a therapy session will be like—don’t worry. You don’t need to have everything figured out.
The first session is about getting to know each other. I’ll listen to you and begin to understand what’s been going on. Together, we’ll explore what you’d like to get from therapy—there’s no pressure to open up all at once. Many people say they feel relief just from being heard and understood.
This is a space where you can take things at your own pace. There’s no “perfect” way to do therapy—it starts with a conversation.

My first session
If you’re wondering what a therapy session will be like, don’t worry ..... you don’t have to have everything figured out. The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. I’ll listen to you to help understand your concerns ..... together we’ll discuss and identify your goals for therapy. It’s not about "getting it perfect", it’s about starting the conversation and getting to know each other.. Many people feel relief from just talking to me and having someone to listen and understand them. That’s often the first step toward feeling better. Plus, it’s completely okay to take things at your own pace ..... there’s no pressure to open up all at once.
