About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to my page.
My name is Caroline and I am an integrative counsellor and psychological therapist working from a psychological informed approach. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and have GMBPsS status with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
'Its time to talk'; you have now taken the first step to living a ‘Whole’ life, whatever your reasons for seeking support, nothing is too big or too small to explore. I believe therapy is for ‘everyone’ and not just for when we reach a crisis point in our lives. Our sessions may be about a specific issue or transition you may be going through such as a relationship or work challenges, bereavement and loss etc or about exploring feeling 'stuck', or existential dilemmas. Alternatively you may want to take the time to explore a little deeper, particularly around initial childhood attachments and past experiences and events and how these may be impacting you in the HERE and NOW.
Why seek Therapy?
Therapy can help us to bring about more awareness and insight into our behavioural and thinking patterns and any areas that might be holding us back from living a full and fulfilled life. I provide a safe, empathic and non-judgmental space for us to explore together why you may be feeling this way and what may be holding you back. It is my belief that psychological therapy can help you to accept the past, embrace the present and rewrite the future.
I am open to different ways of working either online or in person;
Short term/Fixed Sessions - focused on a particular issue, such as a transitions, relationships or work dilemmas.
Long-term/Open ended psychodynamic therapy - to explore a little deeper, around past experiences and how these may be impacting you in the present.
Single Sessions - providing space to unburden and process a feeling, issue or dilemma.
How we collaborate to meet your needs can be discussed more during our initial session.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist sessions are tailored to each unique persons needs by providing a relational, empathic and non-judgmental space for us to explore and process in a collaborative way. I work across Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existential and Behavioural approaches with a solutions focused perspective across cultures, religions, difference and Neurodivergence. I am a Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist (DIT) working to with clients relationally to help them to discover and modify maladaptive relational patterns.
I am trauma trained, providing a safe space to explore the impact of past experiences, maladaptive habits and defences and other coping mechanisms which may no longer be serving you at this time. Working from a holistic approach, we can review your lifestyle patterns and collaborate on making any necessary adjustments which can help to alleviate your symptoms and position you to embrace life at its fullest. I provide support for you to tap into and manifest your hidden strengths and resilience, working together to bring about positive change.
I specialise in providing counselling, psychological therapy and coaching to Young adults between 18 - 30. Feelings of Anxiety, Overwhelm, Stress and Depression can often be magnified during transitions from Adolescence into Young adulthood, which often leads to the adoption of harmful coping mechanisms. The sessions focus may be on specific issues such as; work or academic challenges, relationships, complicated family dynamics or feelings of being 'stuck' and low motivation. It may be an existential exploration of living with meaning and purpose.
The sessions will help to promote self awareness and to develop adaptive behaviours to increase resilience whilst navigating life's inevitable transitions.
Working with Neurodivergence, ADHD and Autism, I provide psychosocial support and strategies for coping better with life's daily challenges.
'Just come as you are' as we figure things out together.
My first session
I understand that finding a therapist can be challenging, with questions coming to mind such as; will I find the right fit for me, someone I can relate to, someone who will understand me, and or someone who I can build a relationship of trust to be fully open about my challenges?
These are important questions as a therapeutic relationship which is built on trust and openness between the client and therapist is the most essential part of the healing process.
On this basis, I offer a free 15-minute introductory chat (if required) to see if we are a good fit for each other. You can contact me via email to arrange a free 15 minute session via the telephone.
Further sessions
Once we agree to work together, I will send out an outline our working agreement. I do recommend weekly sessions to begin depending on the presenting issues, however this can be reduced to bimonthly if required or we can also work bi monthly if that better suits your purpose at this time.
