I offer therapy sessions from 10:00 to 19:00, providing flexibility to suit a range of schedules. Sessions can be booked face-to-face at my office or online, allowing you to choose the option that feels most convenient and comfortable for you. My face-to-face sessions are held at a beautiful, safe, and secure office at Rutherford House in Warrington. The office is designed to provide a welcoming and calming environment where you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and emotions. The space is fully staffed and accessible, with lift access available for those who require wheelchair access. Safe and secure parking is also available, ensuring that your visit is convenient and stress-free. I take care to create a private and confidential space that promotes emotional safety, comfort, and focus during every session. For those who prefer or require online therapy, I provide sessions via Zoom. This allows clients to access therapy from home or any private space where they feel comfortable. Online sessions are delivered through a secure link, ensuring confidentiality and data protection. Online therapy can be particularly useful for clients with mobility challenges, caring responsibilities, or those who live further away, while still providing the same level of care, support, and professional attention as in-person sessions. I aim to be flexible and accommodating in scheduling, recognising that each client’s circumstances and commitments are unique. Whether you choose to meet in person or online, my goal is to create a supportive, secure, and consistent therapeutic space where you can feel safe, heard, and empowered throughout your journey.Sessions are carefully structured to provide clarity, predictability, and emotional safety, helping you feel at ease and able to focus fully on their personal growth and healing. I am committed to making therapy accessible, inclusive, and responsive to individual needs,so that you can engage in work at a pace that feels right for you.
About me and my therapy practice
My way of working is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I recognise that therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you have experienced trauma, invalidation, or a loss of control in past relationships. From the outset, my priority is to create a space that feels emotionally safe, respectful, and attuned to you. Therapy is not something done to you, but something we do together. I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Each person arrives with their own history, needs, preferences, and capacity, and our work is shaped around these. You are fundamentally in control of the pace and depth of therapy. We move slowly and thoughtfully, checking in regularly about what feels helpful and what may feel too much. You are always free to pause and change direction. Psychodynamic therapy forms the foundation of my work, helping us to explore how past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns influence how you feel, relate, and cope in the present. Alongside this, I work integratively, drawing on other approaches where useful. I use DBT-informed strategies to support emotional regulation and coping, particularly during periods of distress, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) principles to help you develop a compassionate relationship with different parts of yourself. This can be especially supportive for those who experience inner conflict, shame, or self-criticism. My practice is firmly grounded in trauma-informed principles of safety, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. I am mindful of how trauma can affect the nervous system and sense of self, I work carefully to ensure therapy does not feel overwhelming or re-traumatising. The therapeutic relationship itself is central, offering a space where patterns can be explored, understood, and gently reshaped over time. Above all, I aim to work in a way that respects your autonomy, honours your experiences, and supports meaningful, sustainable change at a pace that feels right for you.
Practice description
I am a therapist offering a compassionate, trauma-informed and highly individualised approach to therapy. I recognise that healing is not a linear process and that each person brings their own history, strengths, needs and pace. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience; as my client, you are fundamentally in control of the direction and pacing of our work. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, respectful and grounded in empathy, curiosity and care. Psychodynamic therapy is my primary approach, exploring how unconscious processes, early relationships and past experiences shape present thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour. By bringing these patterns into awareness, therapy can support deeper understanding and lasting emotional change. Alongside this, I work integratively to meet individual needs, often drawing on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation and coping, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients develop a compassionate understanding of their inner world. My practice is firmly rooted in trauma-informed principles of safety, choice, collaboration and empowerment. I am mindful of the impact of trauma on the nervous system, sense of self and capacity for trust, and I work carefully to ensure therapy feels supportive rather than overwhelming. We move at a pace that feels right for you, with regular check-ins and space to reflect on the process. I specialise in supporting individuals experiencing complex trauma (C-PTSD), depression and anxiety, often linked to relationship breakdowns and prolonged interpersonal harm. Alongside my clinical practice, I am a trustee for a domestic abuse charity and sit on a committee for another, collaborating with police, IDVAs, ISVAs, local services, and businesses. This work informs my therapy, helping me support clients affected by domestic abuse and complex trauma with understanding, safety, and empowerment.
My first session
Your first therapy session is an opportunity to begin exploring your concerns in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space. I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, so my priority is to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, and respected from the very beginning. The first session is not about solving everything at once; it is about taking the first steps towards understanding, reflection, and collaboration. During this session, we will take time to get to know each other and explore your reasons for seeking therapy. I will ask about your experiences, current difficulties, goals, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. We may also discuss your history, including past therapy or significant life events, but only as much as feels comfortable for you. My approach is trauma-informed and client-led, so we move at a pace that feels safe and manageable, and you are always in control of what we focus on. We will also discuss the structure of therapy, what you can expect from sessions, and any practical considerations such as confidentiality, boundaries, and session frequency. This is a collaborative process, and I encourage questions, feedback, and discussion to ensure you feel empowered and informed about how therapy works. Together, we will begin to identify your strengths, coping strategies, and areas where you would like support, which will help guide the creation of a personalised plan for our work together. This means that even in the first session, we focus not only on understanding your current difficulties but also on exploring underlying patterns, emotions, and internal dynamics, in a way that feels supportive and respectful of your readiness. Ultimately, the first session is about establishing trust, safety, and collaboration. It is a space where you can share openly, reflect on your experiences, and start to explore a path towards healing, resilience, and meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
