About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Catherine Cassells, an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Moy, Northern Ireland. I believe that every person deserves a safe and supportive space to explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.
My approach has been described by clients as warm, compassionate, and surprisingly normal, whatever that means. Clients appreciate that I create a space to just be yourself, we talk frankly and without jargon. I tailor sessions to your unique needs, drawing from many different theories and techniques to ensure sessions are totally centred on what works for you.
Counselling can be whatever you need it to be, whether you to consider new goals or aims, process past experiences, explore your future, or simply to just reflect on your week. Whatever you bring to session is valuable and my role is to listen, support, and work with you towards clarity, growth and acceptance.
Practice description
I specialise in working with people who feel lost, unheard, or unsure of their direction in life, particularly single parents, those navigating divorce or life changes. I also have a deep passion for supporting those living with chronic illness, helping them navigate the emotional and psychological challenges that come with long-term health conditions.
Having completed my Integrative Counselling Degree in Belfast, I have now qualified as a Psychotherapist following study of a BSc Integrative Psychotherapy Degree in IICP Dublin.
I enjoy working with clients in person or online. I have a particular specialisation for online therapy and although new to most people, I work hard to ensure the screen is no barrier to therapy.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, or major life changes, I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
My first session
In our first session, we spend time discussing and clarifying our contract, with particular time on confidentiality and how I ensure you feel supported at all times.
Following this, I like to complete an assessment of what may be going on for you, your expectations and how we will work together. This ensures I'm the right fit for you, if at any time you or I feel we aren't, I will support you in finding the right counsellor for you.
An assessment may take the full first session or even the second but feel assured that it's in your best interest. This is with your agreement and your collaboration, this is fundamental to how I would love our time together to be - Collaborative!
