About me and my therapy practice
My name is Khadija and I am a person centred-counsellor. I welcome you in taking your first step in your therapeutic journey; it can take a lot of courage to reach out so I am glad you are here. May this be the beginning of growth and healing for you.
Being person-centred means I will be meeting you where you are at, I provide a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space where you will be free to explore at your own time and pace. Where you will have the freedom to work through your problems without any pressure; I will not tell you what to do but I will stay alongside you whilst you navigate your own solutions as I believe you are the expert of your own life. I will be led by you and the therapeutic space will be held to offer you full autonomy.
Life is full of challenges and hard times, sometimes it can all feel too much. Many people do not reach out for help in difficult times as they may feel their problem isn't "big enough" to seek help - perhaps you have felt this way too but I assure you if it is affecting you, it is worth bringing to therapy. I am here to listen to it all and to do so with care, empathy and acceptance.
Therapy is often a journey of self-discovery and renewal, of resilience building and empowerment and it is always a remarkable privilege to journey with clients as they weave there way through their struggles and emerge in ways they did not believe possible.
I work in neuro-affirming way and invite you to express any needs or reasonable adjustments you require.
Practice description
I have a DipHE in Child and Young Persons Counselling and a Certificate in online an telephone counselling. I am a registered member of the BACP and am registered with the ICO.
I work as a counsellor for a charity in Essex and also spent 3 years building and delivering a counselling service to staff and pupils in a primary school .
I spent two years working as a group facilitator on a counselling course and am currently a lecturer for the same course.
I have a long history of working with children and young people in the NHS and in education prior to attaining my counselling qualification and have established a deep understanding of the many issues facing young people and children today.
