About me and my therapy practice

Carrie | Counsellor & Parenting Coach

As a counsellor and parenting coach, I’m passionate about supporting parents through the many challenges that come with raising children. My journey into this work began with my experience working with young people and deepened through my own path as a parent.

Parenting is one of the most important roles we take on, yet it comes with little training or support. We wouldn’t approach our professional careers without preparation—so why do we expect ourselves to navigate parenting alone? Too often, parents juggle this responsibility within already full and busy lives, even though it requires our full presence.

If you’re struggling, feeling isolated, or caught in what I call "the silent struggle," please know that you’re not alone. I’m here to help. Together, we can find clarity, confidence, and support on your parenting journey.

Practice description

Compassionate Parenting Support & Connection

I guide parents using the internationally recognized Hand in Hand Parenting approach, a proven system that has supported families worldwide for over 30 years. My work focuses on strengthening family bonds through connection, offering a set of five practical tools designed to help parents listen, understand emotions, and feel supported in their parenting journey.

What to Expect in Our Sessions

Parenting can be deeply rewarding, yet it also comes with challenges. In our sessions, we’ll explore the root causes of the behaviors you’re experiencing and develop tailored strategies to help. I take a holistic, non-judgmental approach, beginning with a full history and offering specific tools to address your concerns.

Some common areas I support parents with include:

✅ Challenging behaviors that feel difficult to manage

✅ Parental overwhelm, guilt, or burnout

✅ Difficult or traumatic birth experiences

✅ Bonding challenges—feeling disconnected from your child or yourself

Together, we’ll identify which Hand in Hand Parenting tools will work best for your family, getting to the root of the struggles and creating practical steps forward.

Courses & Group Support

I also offer small-group courses where parents can work through the Hand in Hand Parenting Foundation Course, gaining skills, confidence, and community support.

My Experience & Approach

With over 20 years of experience in education, yoga, mindfulness, emotional well-being, and mental health, I bring a holistic, trauma-informed perspective to my work. My approach blends person-centered counseling, embodiment practices, and trauma-healing techniques to help parents reconnect mind and body for deeper healing.

Parenting with connection changes everything. Let’s work together to bring more understanding, ease, and joy into your family life.

During the first session, we will review a contract and a full history and offer specific tools to address your concerns.

I also offer a 15-minute call to new clients who would like to chat about counselling options on request

Hi, I’m Carrie, a counsellor passionate about supporting people through life’s challenges. Whether you're struggling with mental health concerns, relationship issues, grief, burnout, or low self-esteem, I’m here to help you find your way forward with greater balance and ease.

With 20 years of experience working in mental health settings as a parent coach and in education, teaching yoga, mindfulness, and emotional well-being—I bring a holistic approach to my practice. I combine person-centred counselling with embodiment and trauma-healing techniques, helping to reconnect the mind and body for deeper healing.

I know that taking the first step towards support can feel daunting, but you don’t have to go through it alone. I offer a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

Practice description

New research highlights the importance of the mind-body connection. My training and experience, combined with a background in counselling, have given me in-depth knowledge to work holistically. I integrate a person-centred approach, placing you at the heart of the process—guided by your needs and preferences. Drawing from my skill set and in collaboration with you, the client, I select what feels most supportive and empowering to help you take charge of your life with confidence and clarity.

I view each person as an individual and from a holistic viewpoint to help empower people to break out of limiting ideas and connect to their deepest selves for profound change. Using trauma-informed attachment and connection-based theory and practices I help you, as individuals or parents, feel skilled, supported and empowered.

As a Parent Coach, I support you in facing challenges or difficult behaviours with your child. I teach YOU skills to aid your child with issues such as fears, anxiety and anger and time to explore the ways you might lead your family allowing for a stronger bond with your children into adulthood.
