About me and my therapy practice
I am Marios Theocharopoulos, a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and a registered member of the BACP.
My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while taking an integrative and personalised approach. I offer a warm and open space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.
In my work, CBT provides the foundation for therapy, while allowing space to adapt the work to your individual needs and experiences, drawing on CBT alongside other therapeutic approaches where helpful.
I also hold Psychology degrees from the University of Aberdeen and the University of Edinburgh, including an MSc in the Psychology of Individual Differences, with a focus on personality traits. This has shaped my interest in understanding each person as an individual, including how and why people differ from one another psychologically, and how these differences matter in their lives, experiences, strengths, challenges, and ways of making sense of the world.
My wider professional background has included work in psychology and behavioural science across the public, private and third sectors, including roles as a researcher.
I have also been an invited speaker nationally and internationally, and a published author in related fields.
Some of the areas I commonly support clients with include:
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Relationship Difficulties
- Self-esteem and Confidence
- Career and Work
- Study and Academic Life
- Living Abroad (Expat Therapy)
- Life Transitions
- Healthy Habits, Active Living and Lifestyle Change
- Mindfulness
Practice description
I offer therapy in a safe, supportive and thoughtful space, with a focus on meaningful change.
The space I provide is confidential, inclusive, non-judgmental, and tailored to your individual needs, helping you work towards meaningful and lasting change. Whether you're looking to understand yourself better, change the way you think, feel or behave, or make sense of a difficult period in your life, therapy can offer a space for reflection, support and growth.
Taking the first step can be daunting, but you don't have to do it alone.
My first session
The first session is an initial assessment, where we will explore what has brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from our work together. This is also an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other and consider whether the approach feels right for you.
