Availability

I am a full time therapist, working flexibly around you. I offer the following options:

1) A set session per week, paid for on the day. My practice is open 6 days a week, and I offer a variety of slots including evenings and Sunday. I do not work at all on Saturdays.

2) A subscription style service that enables you, the client, to choose session times that work for you each week/month. This can include short notice and intensive sessions. Discounted rates at £55 per session are offered for payment in advance for 4 sessions per month.

Adopting this style of working has proven particularly helpful for clients who work shifts, students and education professionals, people who are neurodivergent, and those who just prefer to manage their own therapy calendar according to their own availability and therapeutic need.

CURRENT AVAILABILITY: I have one trainee counsellor slot remaining and two standard slots remaining.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, so nice to have you read my profile!

Whoever you are, whatever you are bringing – you can be yourself with me.

Many psychological crises occur when we feel lost, invalidated, hurt and/or confused. For some, wandering aimlessly through life with no clear understanding of who we are creates discontent, difficulty with others, and a sense of "not fitting in".  My philosophy centres around acceptance, validation, and collaboration – working together honestly, and equitably, with the overarching themes of safety, inclusivity, and temperance.

My practice is non-judgmental, offering a warm, safe environment to explore life’s challenges - whether these are around intimate relationships, day-to-day interpersonal challenges, or deeper, fundamental issues of self and making sense of why we behave the way we do. Together we will figure this out in the space between us - otherwise known as the "space betwixt" (hence "Betwixt Therapy").

What it might be like for you:

Some clients prefer time to process and work on specific things in between sessions, in readiness for the next session. Some need more directive/solution-focussed approaches. Others need lots of validation and nurture to support and challenge unhelpful attachment processes. I adapt according to your needs.

Professionally, I am a fully qualified Integrative Therapist (Advanced Diploma), with an additional MSc in Psychology. I am midway through a PhD in Psychology, specifically examining neurodivergence and therapy. I am a member of both the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have been working as an ASC/ADHD Coach for both children and adults for over 15 years and have over 3 years' of psychological therapy experience including ACEs (adverse childhood experiences), anxiety, attachment, education, families, health challenges, identity, LGBTQ+, neurodivergence, relationship breakdown, shame, stress and trauma.

Practice description

My hybrid practice operates in the following ways:

1) In person in my own private practice office on the first floor (with access to a ground floor therapy space with wheelchair ramp should you require it)

2) Online via GoogleMeet

3) Via telephone - either regular cellular or FaceTime (for iPhones)

Sessions can be one of these options only or a combination of 2 or all 3.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I can offer more than just empathy and unconditional positive regard – I have actual lived experience. This means that you don’t need to keep repeating informational context about what it is like being part of this community, I have lived it. This frees up much more time for actual therapy work, instead of you needing to educate your therapist first (with all the emotional labour that entails) before they can support you.

My first session

First contact might be via email or I also offer an initial, free "Discovery Call" - which is usually around 20-30 mins and can be on the telephone or on GoogleMeet.

Therapy begins from our very first agreed session together. However, in the first few minutes, I will just require some discussion around contracting with a quick form to sign, as per BACP Ethical Guidance. If you are under 18, your parent or significant adult will sign this on your behalf.

This is so that we both understand how the therapy might work, the expectations of us both and also, you can offer any specific requirements or adjustments that you might have or that you would like me to take into account.  Inclusivity and accessibility is at the heart of my practice, and so this is an open invitation throughout your therapy time with me - I recognise that sometimes we feel differently about what we need in any given moment.  We keep open communication about your accessibility needs throughout our work together, not just in the first session.
