About me and my therapy practice
A very warm welcome to my profile.
I am a qualified and professionally registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I practice in a truly empathic way ensuring you feel supported in the work that we do together, taking each session at your pace.
Having worked in a people support role within the workplace for over 25 years I have been privileged to listen and support people with what is happening in their lives.
I am therefore passionate about enabling people to talk by providing a non-judgemental space. I deeply understand how problems can impact both home life and work life and how having somebody to talk to can help. I have experience providing one-to-one support to individuals with depression, anxiety, stress, imposter syndrome, loss of identity, loss of job, retirement, divorce, grief, bereavement, pregnancy loss, child loss, addictions including alcohol and drugs, suicidal ideation, neuro-diversity, including later life diagnosis. Personally, I have been gifted a first-hand understanding of neuro-diversity through lived experience within my family, thereby underpinning my work as truly inclusive.
As well as private practice, I am an affiliated Counsellor with Mind supporting a range of mental health needs. I also attend clinical supervision every month as an ethical requirement of the counselling profession and more importantly to ensure I am providing my clients with the best possible support.
I work in relational way integrating various theoretical frameworks including person-centred, psychodynamic and elements of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), to understand and make meaning of what you are going through. Counselling is about the process of change and can be short or long-term. Our work together will be reviewed at regular intervals where we can reflect openly on the progress being made.
