About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Clare, an authentic and caring counsellor with an open-minded and encouraging nature.

In person I work at The Garden Practice in Hove, a stylish and dedicated therapy space, that clients enjoy visiting for sessions.

You will discover that I have a background  as a teacher of yoga and meditation.  You may choose to start our sessions with a breathing or relaxation exercise.

I will work hard to help you feel safe and comfortable with me, so that you can share all your worries, fears and concerns. In counselling together, you can get to know yourself better, build a stronger belief in your capabilities and have an increased sense of meaning in your life.

The emphasis in my therapy is being with the whole of you, all your feelings and emotions and how they manifest in both your mind and body, in order to gain a greater sense of well-being. You will benefit from my education has given me a knowledge of human development and philosophy which can help you to understand yourself better.

I work with both men and women and all genders, supporting you to manage and reduce anxiety and feel an increase in self-esteem and confidence. I can help you with relationship issues including break-ups, divorce, loss, bereavement, spirituality, identity, trauma and abuse, and work together to take positive steps forward.

I also particularly offer support for all ages of women going through motherhood and child-rearing, career changes, the peri-menopause, menopause and post-menopausal stages, as they are all important life changes affecting how we think and feel.

I can give you the opportunity to express yourself with creative methods such as writing, drawing and sand trays, to explore your past and your deeper feelings.

Together we can look at your choices and steps you can take to move forward, so you can feel:

less overwhelmed, more connected and more alive.

Practice description

You can choose to have your therapy face-to-face or online.

My in-person practice is based at The Garden Practice, near Hove seafront, in Brighton and Hove. This is a comfortable and stylish dedicated garden therapy space. Clients really like having their sessions here, as it's peaceful and relaxed.

Sessions are 50 minutes, and cost £55, payable at the start of each session.  The first session is at a reduced cost of £45. Mostly I work with clients weekly, especially at the start of therapy, but I can see you bi-weekly or to suit you after the start of your therapy journey.

Please give me 24 hours notice of cancellation.

Key workers, those unemployed and receiving benefits, students, trainee counsellors and carers with a carers' card - I can offer you a reduced rate of £45 per session.  It's a pleasure to support you.

My first session

I appreciate there is a big choice of counsellors, so I am happy to answer your questions in a 15 minute call with you, so we can both think about whether I am the right therapist for you.

If you would like we can schedule the call as a video call in Meetings, so that you can meet me and see if you feel comfortable with me before making your decision to start therapy.

We would then schedule a first session at a time to suit you and  then I email you my details.

In the first session, I will ask you to complete an assessment form with me, and will check you that understand my way of working with you before we start. We will also discuss the Client Agreement, laying out how we will work together.

This first session is £45, rather than the normal session cost of £55.  Concessions are available for students, carers and NHS workers, please let me know if you are in one of these groups.
