About me and my therapy practice

I'm Nick — psychotherapist and founder of Calm Harbour Therapy, seeing clients in London and online. I'm a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and BACP-registered member, with an MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (Terapia), Enhanced DBS clearance and full indemnity insurance in place. My career spans over 18 years across education, mental health and private practice, working with children, young people, parents and adults on anxiety, depression, bereavement, family and relationship difficulties, and neurodivergent experiences such as ADHD and autism.

People don't usually arrive at therapy with a tidy explanation — more often it's a sense of being stuck, a young person who's suddenly quiet, or a relationship that's stopped feeling manageable. I try to offer a space where that can be gently unpacked, at a pace that suits the person, without judgement or a fixed formula.

My work is integrative — drawing on attachment theory, psychodynamic thinking, person-centred practice and trauma-informed methods, with play used extensively with younger clients. The approach is always shaped by the individual in front of me. I also support parents directly through Reflective Parenting sessions, whether alongside a child's therapy or on their own.

Neurodivergent clients — autistic, ADHD, dyslexic and dyspraxic children and adults — are a particular area of focus, supported by an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism. Everything here is neuroaffirming: understanding difference rather than trying to smooth it away.

Practice description

My work covers children and young people (5–18), adults and parents, with long-term, short-term and single-session options, delivered face-to-face and online.

Children and adolescents are supported through play and creative, talk-based methods to process emotion, manage school and social pressures, and build resilience — with genuine experience supporting neurodivergent young people who've often felt misunderstood elsewhere.

Adult work addresses anxiety, relationship strain, self-esteem, grief, redundancy, burnout, work stress and trauma, using a flexible combination of person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-based, CBT, mindfulness and trauma-informed approaches.

Reflective Parenting is available for parents wanting to understand what's beneath their child's behaviour and to strengthen family relationships as a result.

Qualifications and training: MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (Terapia); UKCP-registered psychotherapist; BACP-registered member (407303); NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism; Safeguarding and Child Protection in Private Practice (Level 3); Foundation Certificate in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (Minster Centre). Enhanced DBS and full indemnity insurance held.

My practice is grounded in the idea that relationships are where change happens, and that everyone deserves to be understood as themselves — neurotypical or neurodivergent — rather than fitted to a template.

My first session

We begin with a free 20-minute call — with a parent or carer if the client is a child or adolescent, or directly with an adult client — to talk through the situation and check we're a good fit.

From there, I'll send contracting and GDPR paperwork and a short background questionnaire, and we'll settle on fees (£90–£120 a session).

Our first proper meeting covers background, current challenges and what support might help most: 90 minutes for children and adolescents (seen without the child present, though a parent or carer may be involved for a young person by prior agreement), 50 minutes for adults.

What I can help with

Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Baby loss, Bereavement, Child related issues, Depression, Health related issues, Loss, Men's issues, Neurodiversity, OCD, Pet bereavement, Redundancy, Relationships, Self-harm, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues

About me and my therapy practice

I'm Nick — psychotherapist, and founder of Calm Harbour Therapy, working across London and online. I'm a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and BACP-registered member, with an MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (Terapia), Enhanced DBS certification and full indemnity insurance. Over 18-plus years, I've supported children, young people, parents and adults through educational, mental health and clinical settings — working with anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship and family difficulties, and neurodivergent experiences such as autism and ADHD.

Difficulties rarely show up in therapy fully explained. A young person who's gone quiet, a low mood that won't lift, a relationship that keeps hitting the same wall — these are usually signs of something that hasn't had space to be worked through yet. That's the space I try to offer: accepting, unrushed, and shaped around the person, not a fixed process.

I take an integrative approach, drawing on person-centred, attachment-based, psychodynamic and trauma-informed therapy, with play as a key tool for younger clients. Nothing is one-size-fits-all — the method follows the person. I also offer Reflective Parenting for parents wanting support of their own, often alongside their child's therapy.

Working with neurodivergent children and adults — autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, dyspraxic — is an area I've got a passion for, and I hold an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism. My approach throughout is neuroaffirming: understanding difference, not treating it as something to fix.

Practice description

My client group spans children and young people (5–18), adults and parents, with long-term, short-term and single-session work available in person or online.

For children and adolescents, play therapy and creative, talk-based approaches support them through difficult emotions, family and social pressures, and school-related challenges — with a particular focus on neurodivergent young people who haven't always felt understood before.

Adult sessions address anxiety, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, grief, burnout, redundancy, work stress and trauma, drawing flexibly on person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-based, CBT, mindfulness and trauma-informed methods.

Reflective Parenting is available for parents — looking at what's beneath a child's behaviour rather than the behaviour alone, to build understanding and strengthen the relationship.

Qualifications and training: MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (Terapia); UKCP-registered psychotherapist; BACP-registered member (407303); NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism; Safeguarding and Child Protection in Private Practice (Level 3); Foundation Certificate in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (Minster Centre). Enhanced DBS and full indemnity insurance held.

I work from the conviction that growth comes through relationship — and that every client, neurotypical or neurodivergent, deserves to be understood as themselves rather than measured against a standard.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm Nick Dommett, an integrative psychotherapist and the founder of Calm Harbour Therapy, based in London and also working online. I'm UKCP-registered, a BACP-registered member, hold an MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy from Terapia, and carry an Enhanced DBS certificate alongside full indemnity insurance. Across more than 18 years I've worked with children, adolescents, parents and adults in schools, mental health services and private practice, supporting people through anxiety, low mood, bereavement, family breakdown, life transitions and neurodivergent experiences including autism and ADHD.

What brings someone into a therapy room is often only part of the story. A child who's withdrawn, a relationship that keeps stalling, a low mood that won't shift — these tend to point to something that hasn't yet had room to be understood. My work is about making that room: unhurried, non-judgemental, and built around the person rather than a script.

I practice integratively, weaving together person-centred, attachment-based, psychodynamic and trauma-informed therapy, with play forming a central part of my work with younger clients. Nothing is applied by default — the approach follows the individual. I also offer Reflective Parenting, giving parents their own space to think, often running alongside their child's sessions.

I've developed particular depth working with neurodivergent children and adults — autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia — and hold an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism. My stance throughout is neuroaffirming: the aim is to understand someone's experience, not correct it.

Practice description

I see children and young people aged 5–18, adults and parents, offering long-term, short-term and single-session therapy, in person and online.

With children and adolescents, play, creativity and conversation help process difficult feelings, navigate challenges at home, school and with friends, and build resilience — with real experience supporting neurodivergent young people who haven't always felt understood elsewhere.

For adults, work often covers anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, burnout, redundancy, work-related stress and trauma, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-based, CBT, mindfulness and trauma-informed approaches as fits the person.

I hold the belief that lasting change comes through relationship, and that being met on your own terms matters more than fitting a mould — whether you're neurotypical or neurodivergent.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm Nick, an integrative psychotherapist practising as Calm Harbour Therapy in East London and online. I hold UKCP registration and BACP membership, an MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (Terapia), Enhanced DBS clearance and full professional indemnity insurance. My career spans 18-plus years across education, mental health and private practice settings, working with children, adolescents, parents and adults on anxiety, low mood, bereavement, family conflict, life changes, and neurodivergent experience including ADHD and autism.

The reasons people come to therapy are often only the surface of something bigger — a child struggling at school, a relationship under strain, a feeling of not coping the way you used to. I try to create room for what's underneath that: a warm, unhurried, non-judgemental space that responds to the person rather than a checklist.

My approach is integrative, combining person-centred, attachment-based, psychodynamic and trauma-informed work, with play as a central tool for younger clients. Every plan is built around the individual, not a fixed programme. I also work with parents directly through Reflective Parenting, which can run alongside a child's own sessions.

I bring particular depth to working with neurodivergent clients — autistic, ADHD, dyslexic and dyspraxic children and adults — supported by an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism. Everything I do here is neuroaffirming: my aim is to understand, not to normalise.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm Nick, founder of Calm Harbour Therapy and an integrative psychotherapist based in London E1, also working online across the UK. I'm a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and BACP-registered member, holding an MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (Terapia), an Enhanced DBS certificate and full indemnity insurance. Across more than 18 years, I've worked with children, young people, parents and adults in educational, therapeutic and mental health settings, on issues ranging from anxiety and low mood to family conflict, bereavement, life transitions and neurodivergent experiences such as autism and ADHD.

What brings someone to therapy is rarely the full picture. Withdrawal, emotional outbursts, anxiety or a persistent sense of being stuck usually point to something underneath that hasn't yet had space to be understood. I aim to offer that space — warm, non-judgemental, and shaped around the person in front of me rather than a fixed template.

I integrate person-centred, attachment-based, psychodynamic, play and trauma-informed approaches, choosing what fits each client. Children and young people are often supported relationally and through play; with adults, I combine talking therapy with attachment-focused, reflective work. I also run Reflective Parenting sessions alongside a child's therapy where that's helpful.

I've built particular depth working with neurodivergent children and adults — autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia — and hold an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism. My stance is neuroaffirming: understanding someone's strengths and experience, not treating difference as something to fix.

Practice description

I see children and young people (5–18), adults and parents, offering short-term, long-term and single-session work, in person in East London (E1) and online.

For children and adolescents, play therapy and creative, talk-based methods help them process emotions, work through challenges at home, school or socially, and grow in confidence — with particular attention to neurodivergent young people who may have felt misunderstood elsewhere.

We then meet — in person or online — to look at background, current difficulties, and what kind of support might help most. For children, this session happens without them present; for young people, it may include the young person, a parent or carer, or both, by prior agreement; for adults, it's just you and me, exploring what's brought you to therapy and what you're hoping for. This runs 90 minutes for children and adolescents, 50 minutes for adults.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm Nick, an integrative psychotherapist and the founder of Calm Harbour Therapy, seeing clients face-to-face in London and online across the UK. I'm UKCP-registered and a BACP-registered member, with an MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy from Terapia, an Enhanced DBS certificate and full indemnity insurance in place. For over 18 years I've worked alongside children, young people, parents and adults in schools, mental health services and private practice, supporting difficulties that include anxiety, depression, family breakdown, bereavement and neurodivergent experiences such as ADHD and autism.

People rarely arrive at therapy with a clean explanation of what's wrong — more often it's a feeling of being stuck, a child who's suddenly withdrawn, or a relationship that's stopped working the way it used to. My job is to help unpick what's underneath that, in a space that's accepting rather than clinical.

I work integratively — drawing on attachment theory, psychodynamic thinking, person-centred and trauma-informed practice, and play therapy for younger clients — and shape the approach around the individual rather than applying one method to everyone. I also offer Reflective Parenting sessions for parents wanting support alongside their child's own therapy.

Neurodivergence is a particular area of focus for me. I've spent years working with autistic and ADHD children and adults, and hold an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism. I take a neuroaffirming stance throughout — the goal is understanding and support, not correction.fference.

Practice description

My work spans children and young people aged 5 to 18, adults, and parents — with long-term, short-term and single-session options available, both in person and online.

Children and adolescents are supported through play, creativity and conversation, at a pace that suits them, to help with difficult emotions, social and family challenges, and building resilience. I have particular experience supporting neurodivergent young people who haven't always felt understood in other settings.

For adults, sessions might cover anxiety, low mood, relationship strain, self-esteem, grief, redundancy, burnout or trauma — drawn from a toolkit that includes person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-based, CBT, mindfulness and trauma-informed methods.

Parents can also access Reflective Parenting — a space to think about what's driving a child's behaviour, not just the behaviour itself, and to strengthen the relationship as a result.

Qualifications and training: MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (Terapia); UKCP-registered psychotherapist; BACP-registered member (407303); NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism; Safeguarding and Child Protection in Private Practice (Level 3); Foundation Certificate in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (Minster Centre). Enhanced DBS and full indemnity insurance held.

At the heart of all of this is a simple belief: change happens through relationship, and everyone — neurotypical or neurodivergent — deserves to be met as themselves, not measured against a template.
