About me and my therapy practice
Supporting your growth, healing, and wellbeing
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, therapy can offer a place to slow things down and make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface.
I’m James, a UK-based psychotherapeutic counsellor offering online therapy for adults (18+). Many of the people I work with are managing anxiety, self-criticism, relationship difficulties, or periods of transition, and want a space where they can speak openly without judgement or pressure to “fix” things quickly.
My work is grounded in person-centred therapy, meaning you remain at the heart of our work together. I aim to offer a steady, collaborative relationship where we explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you, helping you build clarity, resilience, and a stronger relationship with yourself.
What I Can Help With
I provide support with a range of issues, including but not limited to:
- Anxiety and stress – particularly when your mind feels overactive or you’re carrying a lot of responsibility
- Low mood or loss of direction – feeling flat, disconnected, or unsure of yourself
- Relationship difficulties – patterns around communication, intimacy, or conflict
- Self-esteem and confidence – harsh self-criticism, people-pleasing, or self-doubt
- Life transitions – career change, identity shifts, bereavement, or personal growth
- Sexual or intimacy concerns – discussed in a respectful, non-judgemental space
- Young adults (18+) – navigating early adulthood, independence, or academic pressure
Practice description

In our sessions, I combine the core principles of person-centred therapy with integrative techniques that can deepen self-awareness and support holistic growth. Together, we will work towards clarity, emotional healing, and the confidence to navigate life’s complexities.
I’m not directive or prescriptive, but I am actively engaged in the work and will gently reflect patterns or themes that may be keeping you stuck.
What You Can Expect
- A calm, confidential space where you can speak openly
- Flexible online appointments, including weekday evenings
- Clear boundaries and a consistent therapeutic frame
- A collaborative approach shaped around your goals and needs
Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Level 5 CPCAB Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
- Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training
- Delivering Substance Use Brief Interventions for Adults Training
- Trauma-Informed Practice Training
- Four years’ combined experience supporting individuals through UK mental health services (including Mind and Shout) and private practice.
My first session
During our first counselling session together, we will explore what the focus of our work might be and get a sense of what meeting together feels like. This session is not just about me understanding you, but also about you gauging how comfortable and heard you feel with me as your counsellor.
I’ll listen to what’s brought you to counselling and gently explore what support might be most helpful for you. Then together, we will establish what you would like to get from therapy, and I will work to your agenda.
My style is relaxed, informal, and friendly. Sessions are in confidence with no judgement.
