About me and my therapy practice

Are you carrying emotional wounds from difficult relationships or feeling stuck in patterns that are difficult to change?

These experiences can stem from relationships in childhood or later in life, and may leave you feeling anxious, disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of yourself.

Therapy offers a safe space to slow things down, make sense of your emotional experience, and begin reconnecting with yourself.

I work with adults experiencing relational trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and the emotional impact of cancer or caregiving.

With over 18 years in the NHS as a nurse, I have supported people through some of the most life-changing physical and emotional experiences. This deeply informs my work as a therapist. My background includes counselling within NHS Psychological Therapies and private practice, as well as supporting people through chronic illness, serious health challenges, loss, major life changes, and emotional distress.

I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Complex Trauma, and Somatic Trauma Therapy, which complement my integrative approach.

You will be met with warmth, compassion, and respect for your individual story, pace, and what feels important for you to explore.

Practice description

My approach is relational, collaborative, and trauma-informed. Sessions are guided by what feels most important for you to explore.

We might slow things down and stay with an emotion as it emerges, notice what you are experiencing in your body, or look more closely at a relationship or situation that is troubling you.

With your permission, we might use experiential approaches such as guided imagery, role play, or exploring different parts of yourself to help you connect with and work through emotions and underlying needs.

We will always work at a pace that feels manageable for you. My aim is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, greater self-compassion, and a stronger sense of connection with your emotions and needs.

My first session

The first session is a space for you to share what brings you to counselling, your hopes, and some of the significant stepping stones in your life story.

This is also a chance for both of us to get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit, with no expectation to continue unless it feels right for you.

Above all, my goal is to create a respectful and trusting therapeutic space where you can begin to feel safe enough to explore what is difficult and tender.

If this feels like the right time, or you have any questions, you are very welcome to get in touch.
