About me and my therapy practice
People come to counselling for all kinds of reasons, so my role is to collaboratively explore what has brought you here. No matter whether it is one specific issue or event, or whether you are finding day-to-day life more difficult, my aim is to ensure you feel heard, validated, and empowered as we delve into it together.
I have worked with clients of different ages and genders who have brought with them a wide range of issues that they wanted to talk about. With all my clients I strive to create a safe environment built upon trust wherein which you feel comfortable to open up and explore.
I believe that the key to successful therapy is in the strength of the relationship between counsellor and client which is why I offer a free consultation so that we can both see whether we would work well together.
Practice description
My counselling style focusses upon an exploration of self by offering you the opportunity to freely talk about whatever you would like without fear of judgement. As we go, you can expect me to ask relevant questions so that we can delve deeper into how it is for you with the aim of providing you with a greater insight into yourself. We will work at your pace and I will be guided by you. Sometimes I may offer gentle challenges if needed.
If talking feels too much, then I am open to working in creative ways as my goal is to work in a way that most benefits you.
I work in central York with nearby parking as well as good public transport connections. I also offer online therapy.
My rates are £55 per session and I offer concessions for students and trainee counsellors.
My first session
I offer a free telephone consultation to see if we are a good fit and to look at what your goals are for counselling as well as giving you the opportunity to voice any queries or concerns that you may have. After this, you will be invited to your first counselling session where we will go over the counsellor/client contract so that we both know what to expect while working together. Additionally in our first session we will explore what brings you to counselling and what your goals are for our sessions.
