About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Ally (She/They). I'm a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and a Masters in Gender, Sexuality, and Culture.
A relatable and engaged Therapist based in Manchester City Centre, working both in person and online. Perhaps your past experiences are impacting your day to day to life, or you are struggling with something and need support. I offer people the time and space to explore themselves, both past and present events.
I aim to "get in the mud" with the people I work with, bringing some challenge, questions, reflections, and insight to the sessions- acting more like a compass than a map. We will always work in a way that is focused on you, your struggles, your goals, and your unique experience.
Clients describe me as a "real person" and someone they could be fully honest with. My focus as a Therapist is making sure you feel safe, seen, and accepted as you are. I encourage people to bring their full selves, humour, anger, and emotions that are hard to sit with. I will always meet you with honesty & curiosity. All parts of you are welcome.
I aim to help clients gain clarity and feel empowered to make positive changes in their own lives. I offer a client centred approach to sessions, drawing from a person centred modality, and integrating CBT techniques or other positive lifestyle interventions into our sessions depending on your needs. As part of my practice I offer a flexible approach to sessions to fit around your commitments, such as shortened sessions, and inclusive efforts for carers, parents, and people with specific needs.
I have special interest in Gender Identity, Sexuality, & Alternative relationship dynamics (Poly, ENM) and issues facing LGBTQIA+ individuals. I have experience working with folk who embrace kink and sex positive communities, sex workers, and individuals who struggle with their sexuality. I work closely with PMDD & issues facing people who menstruate.
