About me and my therapy practice
By way of welcome, I’m Deborah Cross, Fertility Counsellor, MSc, BSc Hons, FdS qualified.
I currently operate a private online professional and confidential counselling/therapy service, while identifying premises for face to face sessions, workshops and training.
Fertility counselling care specialises primarily in areas of infertility, fertility difficulties, preparedness for treatment, unsuccessful treatment outcomes, egg donation, sperm donation, surrogacy, miscarriage and babyloss, in addition to implications counselling.
These are my specialised areas of practice in my aspiration to support and help you understand, validate, integrate and alleviate the hurt and pain you may be experiencing in the pursuit of parenthood.
It was my own personal lived experience which motivated me to seek an academic understanding of various therapeutic support to enable me to establish Fertility Counselling Care.
Motivated initially by my own lived experience of fertility difficulties, numerous treatment cycles, unsuccessful treatment outcomes, miscarriages and my own immersion in therapy to heal.
Whilst I specialise primarily in the field of infertility my practice is not limited solely to this area specialism.
I also be offer a blend of therapeutic modalities in Person Centred Integrative therapy dealing with ‘typical’ psychological symptoms such as depression, anxiety, trauma, life limiting beliefs, relationships, loss and bereavement. It will be a honour abs and privilege to work with you in the time ahead.
Practice description
In 2016, after a decade of lived experience of fertility difficulties and babyloss, I founded, Fairness (IN) Fertility, now a NI registered charity.
As chairperson of Fairness (IN) Fertility, I actively led the #Ivf3 Campaign, addressing inequalities for couples accessing fertility treatment in Northern Ireland.
My own lived experience and privileged insight into other couples fertility journeys through campaigning motivated me to seek further specialist training and thereafter establish Fertility Care Counselling Care.
I’m now a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and the British Infertility Counselling Association (MBICA) having successfully completed both the BICA foundation and advanced infertility training for qualified counsellors.
I’m presently in the process of working toward accreditation with both these regulatory professional bodies BACP/BICA.
