About me and my therapy practice
Hello – I’m Sean,
I offer a dynamic, integrative approach to therapy that is adaptive and responsive. I work relationally and creatively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on what you bring and what feels most helpful.
One of my key strengths as a therapist is helping to establish the cause of what’s happening. Together, we can bring clarity to your inner world, understanding the patterns, defences and behaviours that shape your experience. From this place of awareness comes greater agency: the ability to move differently, choose consciously and meet yourself with honesty and care.
At the heart of my approach is psychosynthesis and archetypal psychology - a holistic, integrative way of working that honours the whole self. Whether exploring what is happening now, what has happened historically, or what is not yet fully understood, therapy can help make sense of complexity, uncover meaning and support authentic change.
My work with people spans more than 30 years across the voluntary, statutory and commercial sectors. This helps inform how I understand people, relationships and change, and the different contexts in which our lives unfold.
I have worked with people from all walks of life and offer support with a range of experiences, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges and family dynamics. I specialise in behavioural change, sexuality and identity, trauma, grief and loss.
Practice description
My practice is built on the understanding that mind, body and feelings are deeply interconnected. Real change happens when we pay attention to all three, opening the way for deeper self-understanding, more genuine relationships and a greater sense of wholeness.
I work in a soulful way, and soul can mean many things - shaped by our beliefs, experiences and circumstances. I believe a soulful perspective can support the way we connect: with ourselves, with others and with the world around us.
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for uniqueness. We each carry our own story, rhythm and way of being. Yet there are times when we lose touch with that sense of self, or with the shared purpose that connects us to others. Therapy can offer a way back towards greater clarity, connection and possibility.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call before booking a first session. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what is bringing you to therapy, ask questions and get an initial sense of whether I might be the right therapist for you.
If we decide to meet, our first 50-minute session gives us more space to explore what is happening in your life, what you would like help with and some of the history that may be relevant.
I usually begin by working together weekly for an initial six sessions. This gives us enough continuity to establish a therapeutic relationship and begin to understand the patterns or difficulties bringing you to therapy. At the end of this period we can review the work together and decide whether continuing feels helpful.
