About me and my therapy practice
You may be considering therapy because something in your life no longer feels sustainable, or because something feels as though it needs to change. Perhaps you feel anxious, low or overwhelmed, a relationship has become difficult or ended, you are grieving, questioning who you are, or noticing patterns that keep repeating.
I offer thoughtful, relational therapy that helps make sense of your inner world. Together, we can explore not only what is happening now, but what may lie beneath it: past experiences, relationships and the ways you have learned to adapt, protect yourself, belong and stay loved.
My approach is integrative and relational, drawing particularly on psychosynthesis and archetypal psychology alongside psychodynamic, humanistic, somatic and experiential ways of working. I pay attention not only to thoughts and the stories we tell ourselves, but also to feelings, relationships, the body and aspects of ourselves that can be harder to put into words.
An important part of my perspective is an interest in soul - not in a religious sense, but as a way of describing the deeper parts of ourselves that give life meaning, vitality and a sense of being fully alive. I am interested in you as a whole person rather than simply a collection of symptoms or a diagnosis.
I specialise in behavioural change, identity and sexuality, trauma, grief and loss, and have particular experience working with people navigating significant periods of transition.
Practice description
Therapy with me is collaborative and engaged. I listen carefully, but I will also ask questions, offer reflections, notice patterns and, where helpful, gently challenge ways of thinking or relating that may no longer serve you.
Our work may explore your past, particularly where early relationships and experiences continue to shape the present, but therapy is not only about looking backwards. I am equally interested in what is happening in your life now: your relationships, choices, body, emotions and the parts of yourself that may be asking for greater expression.
At times we may work creatively or experientially rather than relying entirely on words. My aim is to create a relationship in which complexity can be explored without judgement and where, over time, greater self-understanding creates the possibility of genuine change.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call before booking a first session. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what is bringing you to therapy, ask questions and get an initial sense of whether I might be the right therapist for you.
If we decide to meet, our first 50-minute session gives us more space to explore what is happening in your life, what you would like help with and some of the history that may be relevant.
I usually begin by working together weekly for an initial six sessions. This gives us enough continuity to establish a therapeutic relationship and begin to understand the patterns or difficulties bringing you to therapy. At the end of this period we can review the work together and decide whether continuing feels helpful.
Finding the right therapist matters. There is no expectation that you should know immediately what you need from therapy - the first step is simply a conversation.
