About me and my therapy practice
You may be looking for therapy because something in your life no longer feels sustainable. Perhaps anxiety or low mood has become difficult to manage, a relationship has ended or become painful, you are grieving, questioning who you are, or finding yourself repeating patterns you understand intellectually but still cannot seem to change.
I offer a warm, thoughtful and relational space in which we can understand not only what is happening, but what may lie beneath it. I am particularly interested in the patterns we develop through relationships, family and experience - the ways we learn to protect ourselves, adapt, belong and stay loved - and how these can eventually leave us feeling stuck, disconnected or uncertain about who we are.
I specialise in trauma, grief and loss, sexuality and LGBTQ+ identity, neurodiversity, relationships and behavioural change. I have particular experience working with people navigating significant periods of transition: relationship endings, changes in identity, burnout, loss, ageing, family difficulties and the feeling that life needs to change without yet knowing what that change should be.
My approach is integrative and relational, grounded particularly in psychosynthesis and archetypal psychology, alongside psychodynamic, humanistic and somatic ways of understanding ourselves. This means our work can explore both your history and what is happening between us in the present, while remaining interested in the person you are becoming.
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong or what you want from therapy. Part of our work can be discovering that together.
I work with adults in person in Hastings & St Leonards and central London, as well as online across the UK. I offer a free 20-minute introductory conversation so that we can talk about what brings you to therapy and whether working together feels right.
Practice description
Therapy with me is conversational, collaborative and engaged. I will listen carefully, but I am not a therapist who simply sits back and leaves you to make sense of everything alone. I will notice patterns, ask questions, offer reflections and, where helpful, gently challenge the ways you may have learned to protect yourself or relate to others.
Our work may explore your past, particularly where early relationships and experiences continue to shape the present, but therapy is not only about looking backwards. I am equally interested in what is happening in your life now: your relationships, choices, body, emotions and the parts of yourself that may be asking for greater expression.
At times we may work creatively or experientially rather than relying entirely on words. My aim is to create a relationship in which complexity can be explored without judgement and where, over time, greater self-understanding creates the possibility of genuine change.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call before booking a first session. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what is bringing you to therapy, ask questions and get an initial sense of whether I might be the right therapist for you.
If we decide to meet, our first 50-minute session gives us more space to explore what is happening in your life, what you would like help with and some of the history that may be relevant.
I usually begin by working together weekly for an initial six sessions. This gives us enough continuity to establish a therapeutic relationship and begin to understand the patterns or difficulties bringing you to therapy. At the end of this period we can review the work together and decide whether continuing feels helpful.
Finding the right therapist matters. There is no expectation that you should know immediately what you need from therapy - the first step is simply a conversation.
