About me and my therapy practice
Therapy works best when you feel comfortable enough to be yourself, without feeling judged or having to get everything “right”. I offer a warm, collaborative and down-to-earth space where we can make sense of what you're experiencing together.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. I don't believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. Sometimes we might spend time understanding where a particular pattern comes from. At other times, it may be more helpful to focus on what is happening for you now and explore practical ways of managing it.
I work with individuals as well as couples. In couples therapy, I create a space where both people can feel heard and understood, including when conversations between you have become difficult or you seem to be having the same arguments again and again. Rather than taking sides or deciding who is right or wrong, we can slow things down and look at the patterns that develop between you, what may be underneath them, and what each of you needs from the relationship. I also work with couples where differences in communication, personality or neurodivergence can affect the relationship.
Whether I'm working with an individual or a couple, I work collaboratively and with curiosity. You won't be told what you “should” do or given a set formula to follow. I'm interested in understanding your experiences, emotions, relationships and the ways you've learned to cope, while also helping you develop a better understanding of yourself and what you want to change.
You don't need to know exactly what you want to get out of therapy before we start. We can work that out together.
Practice description
You might be coming to therapy because something has become difficult to manage, or because the ways you've coped in the past don't seem to be working anymore.
Perhaps you're feeling anxious or overwhelmed, constantly overthinking things, struggling with your self-esteem, going through significant changes in your life circumstances, or finding it difficult to switch off. You may be navigating ADHD or autism and trying to understand yourself in a different way, or wondering why things that seem manageable for others can feel so exhausting. I’m interested in helping people understand themselves with more compassion, particularly if they've spent a long time feeling different or that they're somehow “too much” or “not enough”.
I also work with people experiencing difficulties in their relationships, including communication, recurring conflict, boundaries, trust and intimacy. I work with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples and welcome conversations around identity, relationships, sexuality, gender and family. With couples, I provide a space where both people can feel heard, while exploring the patterns that develop between you rather than deciding who is right or wrong. I also have experience working with couples where neurodivergence can affect communication and the relationship.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, grief, neurodivergence, identity and self-esteem. Alongside my private practice, I work within an NHS Talking Therapies service and have previously worked within an NHS Psychology team and Mind UK. I work with adults and couples, online and in person in London, and also offer therapy in Portuguese.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel a little daunting, particularly if you've never had therapy before or you're not quite sure what you need.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to talk about what has brought you to therapy. We can explore what has been happening in your life, what you'd like some support with and what you might hope to be different.
You don't need to arrive with everything worked out, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about. We can take our time and work it out together.
I'll also explain how I work and give you plenty of opportunity to ask questions. I want you to feel that therapy is a collaborative process, so we'll think together about what might be helpful rather than trying to fit you into a particular approach.
The first session is also a chance to see whether we feel like a good fit. Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is important, and there is no expectation that you need to decide everything straight away.
If you're unsure whether therapy is right for you, you're welcome to get in touch first and we can have a brief conversation about what you're looking for.
