About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Abby, an experienced Integrative Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor, and an accredited member of the BACP.
I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted for who you are. I work collaboratively with you, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to ensure that our work is tailored to your individual needs, experiences and goals.
I have a particular interest in trauma, neurodiversity, relationships and the impact of difficult or overwhelming life experiences. You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or struggle to understand why you think, feel or respond in certain ways. Perhaps you have experienced trauma or difficult relationships that continue to affect your life, or you simply feel that you experience the world differently from those around you.
My approach is compassionate and curious rather than judgemental. When working with trauma, I recognise that responses such as anxiety, hypervigilance, avoidance or dissociation can be ways of coping with experiences that once felt overwhelming. We can gently explore these patterns and develop greater understanding, emotional regulation and a stronger sense of safety.
I believe therapy should be a collaborative process. I will not tell you how you should feel or what you should do. Instead, I will work alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences and discover what feels right for you, at a pace that respects your individual needs.
I work with adults and young people and offer face-to-face counselling in Chelmsford, Essex, as well as online sessions via Zoom and WhatsApp.
If you are considering counselling but are unsure where to begin, please get in touch. We can have an initial conversation about what you are looking for and whether I might be the right therapist for you.
Practice description
Inner Sunrise Counselling is an integrative counselling and psychotherapy practice offering a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space for adults and young people. As an integrative therapist, I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor the work to each individual recognising that no two people are the same.
My practice has a particular focus on trauma, relationships, emotional wellbeing and personal growth, supporting clients to explore difficult experiences, understand themselves more deeply and develop healthier ways of coping and relating. Sessions are available in Chelmsford, Essex and online.
My first session
Upon first contact, we'll schedule a convenient time for a free introductory phone consultation. This conversation will allow us to determine if we are well-suited for collaboration. Should you choose to proceed, we can establish regular sessions tailored to your needs. If not, I have an extensive network of specialized therapists to whom I can refer you.
Taking that initial step toward seeking support can feel daunting, but it’s a courageous and meaningful step toward self-discovery. Remember, every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
