About me and my therapy practice
I treat every person who works with me as a unique individual. This means I work in a way that respects your experiences, who you are, and tunes into what is important to you.
As an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, the way I do this is by drawing on a number of different counselling approaches with the aim of supporting you in the process of:
- developing self-awareness
- untangling your thoughts and feelings
- making sense of your past and how it has impacted you
- navigating life changes and challenges
- building self-esteem and developing a greater sense of yourself
- getting unstuck and moving forwards in your life.
I am also able to support you through creative ways of working when words are hard to find.
It is important to me to provide you with a safe, confidential space where I work in a friendly, calm, patient and non-judgemental way. I like to work at your pace and it is my intention that you leave each session knowing you have been listened to and understood.
I have experience of working with depression, anger, anxiety, loss and bereavement, low self-esteem, exploring identity, domestic abuse, the impact of trauma, and exploring addiction. I also have experience of providing strengths coaching.
I work in both a trauma informed, and neurodiversity informed, way. I am an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.
Practice description
In my practice I currently work solely online as research has shown that this way of working is just as effective as working face-to-face. Working online also enables access to counselling support where there are barriers to meeting face-to-face.
I work with adults of all ages and at all stages of life. I have experience of providing support on both a short term and long term basis.
My first session
In our first session we will talk through what brings you to counselling along with what your hopes and expectations are of having counselling. It is an opportunity for beginning to getting to know one another and gives us both a chance to get an idea of whether I am a good fit for you and your needs.
As part of this, I offer a 20 minute conversation free of charge. This can take place either online or over the phone.
