What you can expect from working with me
I offer a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is troubling you at your own pace. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change, and I work collaboratively, respecting your experiences, values, and autonomy.
My approach is pluralistic, drawing Psychodynamic, CBT & Humanistic counselling techniques to suit your individual needs. This means our work may involve talking through thoughts, feelings, and patterns, while also gently exploring deeper emotional responses where appropriate.
I aim to help you develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation and compassion for yourself. Together, we may explore past experiences, current challenges and unhelpful coping strategies, while also building on your strengths and resilience. I do not offer quick fixes, but rather a thoughtful and steady process of understanding and change.
You can expect me to be real, transparent and ethical, offering clear information about how we work together. I welcome feedback and regularly review our work to ensure therapy remains supportive and purposeful.
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious or simply seeking a better understanding of yourself, I will meet you where you are and support you in moving towards greater clarity, balance and wellbeing.
My first session
My first session details
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to decide whether I am the right therapist for you. I aim to create a calm, welcoming, and non-judgemental space where you can begin to talk about what has brought you to therapy.
During this session, we will explore your current concerns, any relevant background, and what you hope to gain from counselling. I may ask some gentle questions to help me understand your experiences, but you are always free to share only what feels comfortable for you. There is no expectation to go into detail or discuss anything before you feel ready.
I will also explain how I work, including confidentiality, boundaries, and practical arrangements, and there will be time for you to ask any questions. Together, we will consider whether ongoing therapy feels appropriate and what this might look like.
Prior to the first session, I may ask you to complete a brief consultation or information form to support our work and ensure therapy is safe and appropriate for your needs.
If at any point you feel that therapy with me is not the right fit, you are under no obligation to continue.
