About me and my therapy practice
Counsellor (MBACP)
Huddersfield | In-person, Walk & Talk, Online
I specialise in working with emotional dysregulation, attachment difficulties, and complex relational patterns in adults and families.
My work is grounded in attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, and relational therapy. I focus on how early experiences shape current behaviour, relationships, and patterns of stress, and I work directly with these patterns in a structured and practical way.
Areas of focus
- Attachment and developmental trauma
- Emotional dysregulation (shutdown, anger, avoidance)
- Neurodiversity (Dyslexia, ADHD, autism) in relational contexts
- Parent–child conflict and family breakdown
- Men’s mental health, identity, and responsibility
Clinical approach
I work in a way that is active, structured, and relational.
When someone is overwhelmed or rejecting support, I prioritise:
1. Establishing psychological safety and reducing threat
2. Co-regulation and stabilisation
3. Understanding the function behind behaviour (not just the behaviour itself)
4. Developing new relational patterns through consistent experience
This is not surface-level support. It is focused, pattern-based work aimed at long-term change.
How sessions work
- I take a collaborative but directive role helping you see what is happening and what to do next
- I integrate talking therapy with body awareness and the arts where needed
- For clients who struggle in traditional settings, I offer walk & talk and outreach sessions
Who I work best with
- People who are disengaged, oppositional, or difficult to reach
- Parents dealing with high-conflict or emotionally complex dynamics
- Individuals who feel stuck in repeated patterns they can’t shift
Professional stance
I do not offer one-size-fits-all therapy. My work is formulation-driven, meaning I build a clear understanding of your situation and work from that — not from a script.
Practice description
I prioritise:
- Clarity over comfort
- Consistency over quick fixes
- Long-term change over short-term relief
