About me and my therapy practice

I am a Black female Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Level 5 qualified through CPCAB and a registered member of the BACP.

I bring both my professional training and an understanding of lived experience into the counselling room. I know that who we are, where we come from, our culture, family, relationships and the way the world responds to us can all shape how we see ourselves and the difficulties we experience.

At the heart of my work is connection. I am naturally warm, empathetic and intuitive, and I believe that feeling genuinely heard and understood can be incredibly powerful. I want you to feel that you can bring all parts of yourself into our sessions, including the parts that may have felt difficult to share elsewhere.

I work integratively, with person-centred values at the heart of my practice, alongside an anti-oppressive approach. I don't believe therapy should be about me being the expert on your life. You know your story better than anyone. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you explore it with curiosity, compassion and honesty.

I work with adults and young people and have particular experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds, as well as neurodiversity and additional needs.

Practice description

I offer online counselling and aim to create a space that feels warm, human and, most importantly, yours.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to say or having everything worked out. Some days you may want to explore something from your past, relationships or patterns you have noticed. Other days you might simply need somewhere to talk about what is happening right now.

I will listen carefully, but I won't just sit silently. I will reflect with you, ask questions and, when it feels helpful, gently challenge you to look at something differently. We will work together at your pace, and I will adapt how I work to what you need rather than expecting you to fit into a particular way of doing therapy.

My anti-oppressive approach means I am also open to conversations about identity, race, culture, discrimination, difference, power and belonging when these are important to you. These experiences don't have to be separated from the rest of your story.

Above all, I want our relationship to be genuine. I hope to offer you a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, explore the things that may be holding you back and begin to find your own way forward.

My first session

Our first session is really about getting to know each other and giving you the opportunity to see how it feels talking with me.

We will explore what has brought you to counselling, what is happening for you and what you hope therapy might help you with. We can also begin thinking about your goals and what you would like our work together to look like. You don't need to have all of this figured out before you come.

I will explain how I work, what you can expect from me and answer any questions you have. It is also important that you feel comfortable with me, so our first session gives us both the opportunity to decide whether we feel we are a good fit to work together.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a Level 6 qualified Therapeutic Counselling Supervisor and Level 5 qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. My counselling and supervision training has been completed through CPCAB, and I am a registered member of the BACP.

My approach to supervision is integrative, relational and anti-oppressive, with person-centred values at its heart. I believe that supervision works best when there is a genuine relationship where you feel safe enough to be open about your practice, including the times when you feel unsure, challenged or simply need space to think.

My supervision is informed by the Seven-Eyed Model, which allows us to look at your client work from different perspectives, including what may be happening for the client, within the therapeutic relationship and for you as the practitioner.

I bring warmth, empathy, curiosity and honesty to supervision. I will support you, but I will also appropriately challenge you and encourage you to think more deeply about your work. For me, good supervision is not about having all the answers. It is about having a space where we can think together, reflect honestly and keep the needs and wellbeing of your clients at the centre of our work.

My anti-oppressive approach also means there is space to explore identity, culture, race, difference, power and our own lived experiences, and how these may show up within both the therapeutic and supervisory relationship.

Practice description

I offer supervision primarily online, with face-to-face supervision potentially available by arrangement depending on location.

I work with both trainee and qualified counsellors and aim to provide a supervision space that feels supportive, open and human. I want you to be able to bring the parts of your practice that are going well, but equally the things you are struggling with, questioning or perhaps don't yet fully understand.

We will explore your client work together, paying attention not only to what the client brings, but also to what may be happening within the therapeutic relationship and what the work brings up for you as the counsellor.

I see supervision as more than a professional requirement. It should support you to grow in confidence, develop your own identity as a practitioner and remain curious about yourself and your practice. Alongside this, we will maintain a clear focus on ethical practice, professional boundaries, safeguarding and the wellbeing of both you and your clients.

I have particular experience of working with young people, neurodiversity and people from diverse backgrounds, and I welcome supervisees working across a range of client groups.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what you are looking for from supervision.

We will talk about your current practice, the clients you work with, your therapeutic approach, your experience and any requirements you may have for supervision. For trainees, we can also consider the requirements of your training and placement.

I will explain how I work as a supervisor, including my use of the Seven-Eyed Model, and we can discuss what you need from me and what helps you get the most from supervision.

Most importantly, it gives us both the opportunity to see whether we feel we can build an open, trusting and appropriately challenging supervisory relationship together.
