About me and my therapy practice

Starting your counselling journey could certainly be one of those pivotal moments in life. Until something changes, nothing changes. The match with the therapist must be as unique and fulfilling as you are to yourself.

We learn many things in life as we grow up, but often these lessons reside in our unconscious minds. We absorb the influences of our surroundings during our formative years, and these experiences tend to replay in our lives, leading us to repeat certain behaviours.

In essence, we are always relating to something at any given moment, whether it’s romantically with a partner, socially with friends, or in our interactions with family. We also engage with ourselves, often contending with that inner critical voice, which can be quite harsh. The lessons we learn in our early years often shape our adult lives, and we face challenges that can be difficult to navigate. This can cause us to revert to our younger selves without understanding why, leading to feelings of being stuck or unwell. Consequently, we may begin to blame ourselves for our confusion.

Everything in life has its roots, whether they are cultural or relational. In our sessions, I will encourage you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, allowing you to lead a more authentic and autonomous life. This journey can be challenging and uncomfortable at times, but it is also rewarding and liberating. As new habits begin to replace old ones, you will experience a sense of reawakening and clarity. As new habits begin to replace old ones, you will experience a sense of reawakening and clarity.

Practice description

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling, equipping me with skills to support clients effectively. My training, which included psychodynamic supervision, has significantly influenced my practice. My passion for this approach also led me to formal training in the Foundation of Psychodynamic Practice at a college in London.

The primary therapeutic approach I utilise is psychodynamic therapy, enhanced by a focus on compassion and empathy stemming from my integrative training. This combination fosters a deep understanding of oneself and allows us to explore the various layers of life that may be causing distress.

Emotions serve as essential signals from our bodies, often conveying messages that we might perceive as negative, intrusive, or bothersome. However, recognising these feelings as important communications can be the first step in liberating ourselves from their influence. Together, we will examine these emotional cycles, aiming to cultivate a more authentic and fulfilling way of being.
