About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes life can feel harder than it should. You may feel overwhelmed, anxious or exhausted, or find yourself trying to keep everything going while losing touch with what you need.

You might be exploring a new understanding of yourself following an autism or ADHD diagnosis, experiencing burnout or menopause, navigating anxiety, trauma or domestic abuse, grieving a loss, or finding relationships and boundaries difficult. You may simply feel that you’ve been coping for too long and need some space for yourself.

I work with adults aged 18+ and as well as a counsellor, I also bring many years’ experience as a teacher and specialist therapeutic tutor, supporting individuals and families around autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma and additional needs. I also facilitate therapeutic art groups in the community.

My approach is integrative, with person-centred therapy at its heart. I see therapy as something we work through together, rather than something where you are expected to have all the answers.

Alongside talking therapy, I offer creative approaches including drawing, painting, collage and clay. I’m a qualified clay therapist and also offer walk-and-talk therapy. You don’t need to be artistic, creativity and being outdoors can sometimes offer another way to explore things when words do not feel enough.

Together, we can explore what is happening for you, develop a better understanding of your needs and experiences, and find ways forward that feel right for you.

Practice description

You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly what you need from therapy. We can start where you are and work things out together.

I want you to feel that you can just be yourself with me. You don’t have to explain everything perfectly or make yourself smaller or easier to understand. You can lose your train of thought, go off on tangents, change your mind, pause, or tell me when I’ve got something wrong.

We’ll work at a pace that feels right for you and think together about what helps you feel comfortable. If something doesn’t feel right or isn’t working, you can tell me.

Some sessions might be talking. Other times we might use drawing, painting, clay or organise walk and talk. You don’t need to be artistic.

I’m not there to tell you what you should do or give you all the answers. I’m there to listen, to be alongside you and help you make sense of what’s going on for you.

You don’t have to know where to start. We can start where you are.

I work online and face to face.

I work out of two spaces. The Happy Body Project near Haynes and Wilstead, just off of the A6. This is set in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside and offers a large reception area, refreshments and onsite parking.

I also work out of Project 229 on Bedford Road, Kempston. There is free parking nearby and a lovely cafe on the ground floor.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel daunting, so I want the process to feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible. You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly what you want to talk about.

I offer a free introductory call or short online session, giving us a chance to briefly talk about what brings you to therapy, answer any questions and see how it feels to talk together.

If you decide to continue, we can arrange a more in-depth 50–60-minute assessment (£30, payable in advance). This gives us time to explore what you would like from therapy and what might feel helpful for you along with taking a more detailed personal history.

You can take your time, ask questions, lose your train of thought or change your mind. We can work at a pace that feels manageable and decide together whether ongoing sessions feel right for you.
