About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Heydi. Taking the first step towards counselling can feel difficult, and that’s completely understandable. My intention is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can feel at ease to tell your story. I am an Integrative Counsellor trained in three theories, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). As an integrative therapist, I draw on these theories, tailoring our work to your individual needs, your experiences, and the depth at which you wish to explore them.

While counselling is not a quick fix, I strongly believe in its transformative potential. Having started counselling training with the intention of understanding my own mental health challenges, I hold a deep belief that everyone has the potential to access their inner resources to help themselves and move towards a more content and balanced life. With commitment and a willingness to engage in the therapeutic process, everyone can make positive changes.

I have worked at different mental health organisations including Place2Be and the Listening Place and this has given me experience of supporting people with depression, autism, ADHD, self-harm, suicide ideation, anxiety and transitional issues arising from life changes – divorce, redundancy, ageing, menopause, relocation and parenthood.

Practice description

How I’d work with you - my way of working is relational, which involves me showing up as myself, connecting with you, and together building a sincere and meaningful therapeutic relationship. Our work together will be informed by three therapeutic approaches. Person-Centred, which emphasises your inherent capacity for growth, change and choice. Psychodynamic, explores how early experiences and our formative environment influences the way we relate to ourselves and others. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connections between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and how these patterns can be understood and changed.

Working with these different approaches to counselling helps us look at your issues through different lenses depending on what you want to focus on and what makes more sense to you. My aim is to offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore all parts of yourself and be supported in finding a way forward. Together, we will look at how you relate to yourself, to others, and to the world around you. By understanding how these connections shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, you can begin to move towards ways of living that feel more in tune with your values, beliefs, and what matters most to you.

My first session

Our first session is a chance for you to share what has been going on for you. It’s also a chance for you to see how you feel working with me. We will spend time exploring your background and the challenges you are facing, at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

My practice is at the Complementary Health Centre in Lee/Hither Green. If you’d like to book a session, you can do so using the link above. If you’d prefer to have an informal chat first, just get in touch and we can arrange a telephone or video call.
