About me and my therapy practice
I offer one-to-one counselling and supportive spaces for dads and male caregivers, while also working with adults more widely — providing a safe, confidential and welcoming place where my clients can arrive exactly as they are.
In my experience, when someone feels warmly held and genuinely listened to, it becomes easier to speak about what really matters — whether that’s something that has been carried quietly for years, or something that feels newly present. I work in a way that is human to human: with care, understanding, and deep respect for each person’s own inner process.
A special interest in supporting fathers and male caregivers
I hold a particular interest in working with dads, and with men who find themselves carrying caring responsibilities more widely. Many fathers give a huge amount yet often feel they have to manage alone, staying strong or keeping things in.
The realities of fatherhood and caregiving can bring powerful challenges: anxiety, stress, anger, low mood, relationship strain, or a quiet sense of disconnection. Counselling can offer a steady space to slow down, reflect, re-connect, and feel less isolated in the everyday emotional weight of life.
Alongside individual sessions, I also offer grounded and welcoming dad’s support groups here in Hayle, Cornwall — a regular space for dads to come together, slow down, and feel less alone in the realities of everyday life.
Working with adults more widely
As well as supporting fathers and caregivers, I work with adults from many walks of life who are looking to explore parts of their experience that feel difficult, stuck, or unclear.
People come to counselling for many reasons: relationship challenges, identity and self-esteem, grief and loss, stress, depression, life transitions, spiritual or existential questions, or simply a desire to feel more at ease within themselves.
Among my qualifications I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Therapy that is BACP Gold Standard Accredited.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face counselling from my comfortable therapy space in Hayle, Cornwall, as well as online or telephone sessions.
Before we begin, I offer a free 30-minute chat so my clients and I can see whether working together feels like a good fit.
My first session
The first session consists of my making an agreement in the first place – a contract to which my clients and I can hold each other to. This includes fundamentally important things such as confidentiality, agreements around timings and attendance, and payments.
Following the formation of the agreement, the space is ready for the counselling to begin, which is usually within the first session, after the agreement has been made.
Sessions then continue until a natural ending occurs, or a pause in counselling is appropriate. My clients and I review how the sessions are going every 6 sessions, to then agree either a continuation, a pause, or an ending.
The sessions are shaped around what my clients want to bring, at a pace that feels right for them. Sometimes that means deep listening, sometimes gentle exploration, sometimes with more particular direction and structure, and sometimes simply having a space where nothing needs to be fixed.
My intention is always to build a professional relationship that feels real, supportive, and unique to my clients as they are.
