About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified and experienced Person-Centred counselling psychotherapist. I aim to provide a warm, compassionate and welcoming space for you to bring your entire self. I am passionate about people and about working towards totally understanding individual experiences. I care deeply about my practice, and enjoy giving my total focus and attention. It feels a privilege to fully engage in this work.
Through our lives we experience challenges, big and small. Talking through these challenges in a supportive environment can lead to greater understanding, increased self-awareness and clarity about possible ways forward. I have worked with people of all ages from a wide range of backgrounds with issues including bereavement, addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, long-term health conditions and relationship difficulties – all are welcome.
I have a Masters degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Careful listening has always been part of my working life - my background is in music, and I have worked therapeutically in healthcare settings for the last fifteen years.
Person-Centred therapy does not seek to provide advice or solutions, as it recognises that each individual's experience is completely unique. What might work for one person may not work for another. Therefore the approach is designed to provide an environment of support in which the client feels empowered to, if they wish, explore their feelings and behaviours, and develop their own inner resources. The relationship is the transformative tool, which is why I offer a free initial session to be sure that we feel that we can work well together.
If you wish to know more then please contact me for a free and informal chat. I look forward to speaking with you.
Practice description
I work in-person from my cosy space in West Kirby, or online. Sessions are 50 minutes long.
I have some daytime and evening availability.
Sessions can be at the same time every week (depending on availability), or on an ad hoc basis.
My first session
Prior to our first session together, I offer a free 15 minute telephone conversation so that we can discuss your needs and how I might support you. If you decide you would like to go ahead, then we can arrange an initial free 50 minute session in-person or online, and I will send some information out to you outlining my terms, confidentiality and its limitations.
In our first session together, we will discuss the information, giving you an opportunity to ask any further questions you may have, and if you wish to proceed with counselling with me, I will also need your contact details and GP information.
During the first session, we can perhaps discuss what has brought you to counselling, or what you would like to get out of counselling. Some people initially just want to get things off their chest. I trust that you will talk about whatever feels right.
