About me and my therapy practice
I'm an integrative counsellor committed to offering careful and considered listening and aim to provide an empathetic, professional and safe environment where clients feel heard, valued and understood. My approach is collaborative, fully respecting you and enabling you as an individual to talk about your circumstances. The counselling sessions will help you to work through your life issues using methods and styles of relating which are tailored to you.
Having trained as an integrative counsellor, I work with several therapeutic approaches to help meet each client’s individual needs and in doing so incorporate aspects of Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural and Psychodynamic approaches to counselling. I understand how hard it can be to make that first step in asking for help. I endeavour to create a safe and welcoming environment where I offer clients a safe and confidential space in which they feel heard, understood and free to share without judgement.
Practice description
I have Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling qualifications. I am a registered counsellor with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their ethical standards. I have completed CRUSE training to support bereaved people through their grief and enable them to understand and cope with their loss.
Working as an integrative therapist enables me to employ a therapeutic approach or intervention which best suits your current needs. I support clients presenting with a range of anxieties and concerns and work towards enabling each person to develop effective strategies for managing anxious thoughts.
My first session
I offer an initial 15-minute phone call that is free of charge where we will discuss briefly what may be going on for you, answer any questions you may have of the therapy process and to arrange a time for your first appointment.Your first appointment will be a fuller in-person assessment that is charged at £45. During this appointment we will discuss the therapeutic contract including areas such as confidentiality, before agreeing on a suitable day and time for weekly sessions. Each session will be 50 minutes with an open-ended approach to therapy, meaning you are not limited to the number of sessions. We will ‘check in’ every six sessions to review and ensure we are working towards achieving your goals.
