About me and my therapy practice
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked within further and higher education for a decade, focusing on student support, mental health, and inclusion.
I have a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy, which is a UKCP and BACP accredited qualification. I have worked as a counsellor since 2022 within NHS settings.
Due to my past work experience in education, I have particular interest in working with clients considering, awaiting diagnosis, or recently diagnosed with neurodiverse conditions, such as ADHD. I acknowledge that this process can be complex and emotional and counselling can help with navigating it.
Practice description
I take an integrative approach to therapy work, which means I use a range of models and methods, tailored to your individual circumstances, whether for short-term work (6-8 sessions) or long term counselling.
I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” therapy model. Your therapy journey is unique. Whether you prefer to just sit and talk through your “here and now” worries, or to explore what lies beneath them, we can work together to find the approach that is best for you. This could mean person centred work where you decide where your therapy goes, relational therapy or transactional analysis where we explore your relationships and behaviours, or we can take a more creative route using meditation techniques, imagery or art.
I have experience working with neurodivergent clients, and I am open to adapting sessions as appropriate to make therapy more accessible.
My first session
Sessions last 50 minutes. My rate is £60.
If you'd like to have a quick chat before booking in, I offer an optional 10 minute telephone consultation, free of charge to help you decide if I'm the right therapist for you.
I understand that beginning counselling can feel daunting, and I am happy to answer any questions you have before beginning working together.
In our first session, we will do a quick assessment and discuss your reasons for coming to therapy, and your therapy goals. I will ask about your previous therapy experience, if appropriate, and discuss the boundaries of our work. We can also discuss any adjustments you may need to make therapy more accessible for you. We will agree on a time for our sessions, which would usually be weekly.
