About me and my therapy practice
I’m Saky, a qualified therapist based in London and I offer long-term and time-limited therapy.
There is no one reason that leads people to therapy. You might be struggling with stress at work, loneliness, intimate relationships, or experiences from your past that are impacting how you experience the world today. Perhaps things feel difficult, and you’re not sure why.
Therapy allows you to explore and make sense of your experiences and emotions. It can be a place to consider if you want to make changes and reflect on what might make life feel more fulfilling, less confusing, and perhaps a little brighter.
I offer a warm, confidential, non-judgemental space for you to explore your experiences, thoughts and feelings.
I have experience working for a leading mental health charity and bereavement service, a low cost therapy service and 10 years’ experience as a helpline volunteer counsellor with Switchboard, an LGBTQ+ charity.
I work with a range of issues including:
- depression, anxiety and loneliness
- bereavement
- relationship difficulties
- experiences of discrimination related to identity including racism, homophobia, transphobia and ableism
- stress at work
- childhood trauma
Before retraining as a therapist, I worked in business for 15 years and have a strong understanding of high-pressure careers and working environments.
Practice description
I am an integrative therapist, and I trained in London at the Minster Centre, one of the leading Psychotherapy and Counselling training institutions in Europe.
Integrative means I draw on different theories and ways of thinking about psychotherapy, and incorporate them according to what feels appropriate and most relevant to you.
Something I bear in mind with everyone I work with, is their unique identity and how this impacts how they fit into the world. What pressures do you experience because of who you are? How does this show up in challenges day-to-day?
I am particularly interested in relationships. I believe that our well-being and sense of self are strongly linked to our relationships to the world around us and the other people in it. This includes our parents or the people who raised us, our intimate partners, friends and perhaps the relationships we wish we could form.
My first session
The first session is a chance for us to meet, explore what brings you to therapy, and get a sense of whether this feels like the right fit. I will ask you questions about your experiences and what you hope to get out of therapy.
If we decide to work together, we will meet every week at the same time for 50 minutes.
If you would like to speak before arranging a first session, I offer a free 15-minute phone call to answer any initial questions you might have.
