About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes life may feel overwhelming. You may be grieving someone important, struggling after the end of a relationship, facing a major life change related to work or health, and finding that ways which have always helped you cope no longer seem to work. At such times it can be difficult to know where to turn.
Clients tend to go through major life transitions, whether expected or sudden, which may shake up their sense of stability and identity. I offer a safe, empathic environment where you can talk in confidence about whatever you're going through, make sense of your experiences, and find a way forward that feels right for you.
I work with people dealing with relationship difficulties and specialise in helping clients navigate bereavement, grief and loss which may come from the ending of a relationship, loss of health, career shifts etc. In addition, I support parents dealing with loss experienced during pregnancy, infant loss, infertility etc. as well as parents who may need support following the birth of a rainbow baby.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent nearly two decades working in competitive corporate environments, inside and outside of the UK. I have been no stranger to the professional and personal challenges that come with corporate life and adapting to work culture and life in different countries. This has given me a first-hand understanding of going through significant life events whilst also dealing with work related pressures.
Practice description
My priority is to offer you a safe, calm and confidential space where you feel understood and not judged. From the start of sessions, I focus on finding a way of working together which feels right for you and where you can be yourself.
I am a qualified Gestalt counsellor and tailor this therapy approach to every client’s individual needs. In my experience working with clients collaboratively is key to them achieving positive results from therapy. Together, as we focus on your current problems, links may well be made to your earlier life experiences. This may enable you to better understand yourself in present life circumstances which you are finding hard to cope with. Using these insights will support you to develop new ways of managing and overcoming your current and future challenges.
I work with adults and offer either short-term work or open-ended therapy depending on your needs.
I practice in-person in Bedfordshire and online via Zoom across the UK.
My first session
It gives me a chance to understand what brings you to therapy and your expectations from it. The first session is equally an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work, how I could support you, and ask any questions you may have about therapy.
This introductory session doesn’t commit you to starting therapy with me but will allow us both to consider whether I am the right therapist for you.
